It's a very silly country. Especially the bits with half hour timezones. That map is actually simplified, because it doesn't include Eucla time: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UTC%2B08:45
A map, produced by ABC News, reminding people that Daylight Saving Time has begun in some parts of Australia, and showing the times in each state and territory as at 9 am AEDT.

Photograph of a black ABS electronics project box that has had the described project built into it, viewed from above the front face/top.

At the top is a battery-level gauge. Below this are two meters; on the left, an analog current gauge featuring a red pointer, black lettering/lines, and a white background, with an unlit red LED above it. The red LED lights when the power supply is in constant-current/current-limited mode. On the right is a digital voltage meter, currently showing 18.0 volts. Above it is a green, lit LED, indicating the supply is in constant-voltage mode. Below the voltmeter is a red on-off rocker switch.

Below each of the meters is a chunky knob, allowing the adjustment of the current limit and the voltage setting. Below those are two 4mm banana-jack / combination terminals, one red and one black, for the supply's output.

On the small side perpendicular to the face that is visible, a chrome wire fan guard can be seen.

Back to thinking about single-pixels cameras and ghost imaging systems. Here's my 'Spotlight on Optics' highlight on a novel variant of x-ray ghost imaging opg.optica.org/spotlight/summary.cf… #optics #physics #imaging
opg.optica.org
Spotlight on Optics: Ghost imaging in convolution space using shifted random-pattern illumination
This paper presents an improved technique to collect images using single-pixel detectors. The method is especially suited for images that are to be processed by convolution operators. Ghost imaging (GI) is a generalized imaging approach, whereby instead of using a pixelated camera, one modulates the illumination patterns in a known way and acquires images using a single-pixel sensor. This can be advantageous when cameras are impractical or not available. Relatedly, in computer vision, convolution operators are commonly applied to images for tasks such as edge detection, denoising, etc. This paper shows that by structuring the GI illumination patterns as a Toeplitz matrix, one can greatly improve the quality of such convolution-processed images, while reducing the number of patterns required, compared to existing methods. This approach is well suited for X-ray imaging, where Toeplitz-matrix illumination is readily produced by shifting a single random pattern across the field of view. This novel "Toeplitz GI" has the potential to significantly reduce the acquisition time and efficiency of X-ray GI for many tasks relevant to computer vision.
