BTW re Trotsky and the ice ax, there were still many glaciers in Mexico in the 1930s. It has a number of mountains over 5000m and a small mountaineering community. The glaciers (one of which is on Iztaccihuatl and is visible from Trotsky’s house) have receded massively because of climate change.

I’ve been on a Volaris flight during the pandemic that almost immediately ran out of water in the bathrooms. Was just a 4 hour flight and we didn’t get diverted so could have been worse I guess.

such a weird league, some of the best forwards in the world, mostly past their prime, but still very, very talented ... playing against defenders and keepers who would struggle to get game time in third tier leagues in Europe

They’d be a decent chance, but far from a sure thing, to qualify. Their FIFA ranking is a little lower than Jordan’s but it can be hard to compare teams across federations. I think FIFA overrates some Asian teams (including Australia where I’m from, we’re okay but 26th really flatters them)

Sunderland Til I Die is great television precisely because they do much worse than hoped! But not really a Disney narrative. It also depends on what you see as an acceptable end state. Wrexham as a Championship/League One yo-yo club is still a dream scenario after languishing in the National League.

This is 100% true. Classical electromagnetism is not the most difficult physics, but even the fundamentals of it are university level material. And if you tackle explaining magnets by talking about electrons and spin, only a couple of "why?" questions later you are deep in advanced material.

It's my most idiosyncratic pet peeve. People make fun of the Insane Clown Posse and are like "ha ha! I learned about magnets in elementary school!" I'm like, you did Maxwell's equations and Lorentz transformations and spin/angular momentum of electrons in elementary school? That's cool.
