Revisiting one of my favorite pieces of writing, Colson Whitehead's "Finally, a Thin President" from November 2008, and wow ...
Screencap of text from the New York Times stating: "On the right, there’s been much anxiety over what a Skinny Black Guy administration will look like. Will he paint the White House a warm, Cablinasian caramel, lop off the East Wing for a more svelte profile?"

Morning ride up to Mt Davidson with glimpses of Mt Diablo across the Bay through breaks in the fog. One of my favorite things about San Francisco is the city is like a natural gym.

Warming Hut to Aquatic Park swim (~3 miles). Much less current than expected so much much harder than expected. Took almost twice as long as last year. 🌉🏊‍♂️🌇

Screen-cap of a San Francisco Chronicle article with the following text highlighted: "Petrin said she doesn’t care whether people build homes or offices on non-historic parcels within the historic district, but she also believes there is no housing crisis in California but rather an affordability crisis."

When I was a kid in Australia it was common for a TV weather forecast to show a real weather chart with isobars. These contain tons of information if you know how to read them. When I got to the US the TV weather would have things like a sun with smiley face or animated lighting with sound effects.
