One of the biggest gems I forgot I made on my channel in the past may be when I decided to do a Brandish Breaking Bad parody where I cosplayed both Ares and Dee and made them act like Walt and Jesse. Maybe Ares and Dee cooking needs to be the plot of Brandish 5 when it comes out. #Brandish

After seeing the new Brandish comic that dropped, I had to make a transparent render for Ares aurafarming again. Made some fun edit variations as well where his pants is correctly colored blue again + alt where he’s wielding Planet Buster. May not be the best but hope y’all enjoy #Brandish2

Original render; only work I did here was extend the sword blade and left shoulder pauldron to not look cut off by the page.

Back when I had some downtime to look into other Falcom series’ besides Brandish I got into Popful Mail, which I REALLY should get back into looking again. Anyways I remember wondering what it‘d be like if Brandish & Popful Mail met and then I realized Mail already met Ares #Brandish #PopfulMail

This is a panel from the “Falcom Gakuen” (Falcom Academy) manga series. It’s a comedic crossover of everyone from Falcom’s games, but it’s sadly kinda hard to find much of (at least, in terms of Brandish content from my experience, although generously I was given all of the known sources for Ares and Dela’s appearances in the mangas, but most panels haven’t been translated to English yet)

Anyways as for what this comic is probably trying to get across— from a rough translation I believe Mail is trying to confront Ares over him having a large bounty on his head but Ares just kinda nonchalantly shrugs this off because he’s used to people like Dela consistently chasing him for similar reasons.

Y’know what. I’m gonna try something here that I’ve never done before outside of showing some trusted friends in private Discord servers—- publicly REVEALING two of my main characters for an original series that I hope to work on… For the 1st time ever, the public gets to meet Daniel and Duke!

Daniel- a main character from an original series I would like to work on called “The Adventures of Daniel and Duke”. A vagabond drifter, Daniel makes his living in his world by earning his keep as a bounty hunter, though he has had greater aspirations. Truth be told, the design of Daniel here isn’t how he first appears in his story arc— I haven’t drawn it yet, but earlier in his treks as a hunter, he wore a much more Spaghetti-Western look by rocking a red poncho over more worn clothes. It is only later in the story that he acquires the more noble garments of a swordsman, signifying a sort of character design change alongside his growth as a character. However, he still keeps a part of his gunslinger attire here and there. Growing up, Daniel knew Duke as his own pet dog and cherished many memories with him, and Duke’s passing devastated him. When Duke arrives back to Earth in his Animal Spirit form, Daniel is overjoyed, and seeks to reunite with his animal companion after so long.

Inspirations for his design? Well… I think it’s fairly obvious that Daniel was inspired by Ares Toraernos from the Brandish series. It’s no secret by now that Ares is one of my top GOATS of all time, but other characters that inspired his design was Dee from Brandish VT/4, Roland Deschain from the Dark Tower novels by Stephen King, Arthur/Wart from that old Disney movie of The Sword in the Stone, and Daniel from the Bible. I have some ideas that the Daniel here is dubiously connected to the Bible Daniel, but it’s kept vague, again kind of like how Ares in Brandish is connected mysteriously to Ares the Greek God, but they aren’t directly the same. Oh well, I’ll figure out how that all works— just as I will with the other parts of this story!

Duke- A main character from my original story that is oh so special to me, “The Adventures of Daniel and Duke”. Duke is based off of a real dog that I had the absolute pleasure of growing up with. He’s a Dogue De Bordeaux with a commendable heart and I am making this story of the two of us going on an adventure together with him as a promise to him that I made to him before he passed years ago when I was still a kid. Here he is in his “Animal Spirit” form, which he takes the form of after he initially passed away as a dog on Earth. He later descends back to Earth after the Great War between humanity and Animal Spirits with the goal to set things right after calamity was caused for everyone by the current ruler of Earth, King Dakota. Along the way, Duke makes many foes as he tries to bring light to a corrupted world once again. After traversing many lands in Earth for some time, he finally reunites with Daniel, who immediately aids Duke in his quest to defeat King Dakota.

Design inspirations for Duke? Besides being based off of his original dog form, he was also… Inspired by Ares Toraernos from Brandish to a degree, but much less so than Daniel. Mainly it’s his greaves and scarf that was inspired by Ares (and the two tone colors of his scarf being red and blue is inspired by Dela Delon’s cape in the Brandish series as well) However, the Brandish design references are small in comparison to the fact he is overall inspired by Jotaro Kujo and Star Platinum from JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure. He’s also a bit inspired by Glamrock Freddy from FNAF Security Breach, mainly in the color palette and even personality in terms of being overall sweet and welcoming.

the older versions of Brandish. Again I still think it’s a cool design but it’s definitely not as iconic as the original releases of the trilogy. In all honesty I actually think the render of him in DR kinda looks better than the promo art… It gives him more detail…
