AWS is ending support for Infrastructure Composer. Part of it started as Stackery, where I spent some of my best career years, so this one's personal. Part eulogy, part celebration, and a little bit of me being bitter. 🫗 danielleheberling.xyz/blog/pour-on...

I'm not super into Country music or Southern US culture...but the one exception to that was Dolly Parton. She was highly successful, made a lot of money, and used her seat at the table to lift others in the communities she came from up. The world needs more people like her. RIP.

I use AI to build, and I build things that use AI. A job-search agent and CloudFormation troubleshooter are two public examples. I wrote about why I think those are different kinds of work: danielleheberling.xyz/blog/types-o...

My EventBridge Scheduler invokes all "failed" into the DLQ while the agent succeeded every time. Cause was a ~30s timeout I couldn't find documented anywhere. Fix, code, and the async ack pattern on the blog 🛠️

There's always a nonzero chance something breaks after a deploy. That doesn't mean don't ship. Set up rollback plans and real monitoring first, then press the button. Ship, watch, be ready to roll back. That's the job.

I'm bad at bragging about myself, so review season is rough. That's why I built brag-doc. Log what you shipped in Claude Code, a couple minutes a day. Just facts. When reviews hit, it drafts a promotion case or self review from your entries. github.com/deeheber/brag-doc
