Just tried riding a bike for the first time since I broke my shoulder and… it was very short but… my arm felt ok… But my whole body turned to jelly as if it was my first time riding a bike… definitely some 🧠 🐛 to fight…

It's Pride in Berlin this weekend and I'm reminded that although Berlin is a city that is so queer, but its community and events largely... kinda suck and I hate it. It's partially a function of the state of the world and being one of the most policed cities in Europe - but it still sucks.

I’m still far from fully healed, but pushing myself to try new things and to get myself back to “normal”. I tried solid sculpting of glass for the first time and made my broken shoulder (it’s life sized!) based on the CT images. Need to give it a second try to refine it, but super happy with it

In good PT news I can actually raise my arm to 90 ish degrees unassisted outwards and forwards now In bad PT news doing so 15 times leaves me as out of breath as moving a 50kg box of raw glass does usually 🥲

Physio today was the “do the thing until it fails” kind of physio and I learnt new ways that muscles can hurt but the fact that I learnt them in the process of “lifting my arm” is scary actually. OTOH more progress which is good?

It’s kinda weird how little pain my arm itself ends up in, unless actively doing physical therapy steps/reflexive stupidity (and those things spike to a 10, but for like… a split second), so relatively soon after surgery.

Glass is good at teaching you to detach from things… right after recording this I managed to… break out the cups avolio while knocking off :( But I’m still really happy with how this went. I do love that going thin is increasingly my default too 😅

Goblets are peak "glassblowing for glassblowers" in that they're entirely pointless but are a really fun way to challenge yourself. I haven't made any in the hotshop since September, but had a great time making this full cane goblet and now i might spend some time making more 😂 #glassart
