You don't get to claim you are treating anything with "seriousness" after you assert that "narco-terrorist cartels are our hemisphere's ISIS." The further beclowning of US counterterrorism.

It's very clear from @akbarshahidahmed.bsky.social's book Crossing the Red Line that Biden's enabling of Israel's wars paved the way for everything Trump has done in the region. Biden shielded Israel from the consequences of its aggressive actions and abandoned diplomacy with Iran. He set the table

Endless gripe with English-speaking journalists, media and politicians. Houthi(s) is pronounced like the TH in Thursday. It is NOT Houtea or Houti, which seems to be the default. If you’re Irish, or speaking English with an Irish accent, you get a pass. Everyone else, you just sound ridiculous.

It's the flip side of the hawkish tendency to blame the U.S. for "allowing" terrible things to happen in all the places where our government isn't very involved. In their view, the only things that the U.S. is never responsible for are the things that our government enables and supports.

McGurk seems to be trying to defend Biden but is basically just admitting he folded. Fascinating.

He got so angry that he very nearly did the thing that he absolutely refused to do for more than two years. I don’t know that we should believe anything McGurk says, but this makes Biden look so much worse than he already did.

The Democratic party has a long way to go to get foreign policy right, especially in the Middle East, and MOST ESPECIALLY in Palestine. But this is a terrific sign of progress and a great illustration of why, for all their imperfections, it is IMPERATIVE that we get a Dem majority in the Senate.

The Fairford "terror incident" feels like a lazy remake of Four Lions, but instead of being incompetent terrorists they are just a bunch of regular criminals mistaken for terrorists by incompetent government agents.

After he blathers about Kim, he suggests that he would have attacked North Korea if he had been president when they didn't have nuclear weapons. He is faulting his predecessors for not waging preventive war in Korea. That is the truly scandalous and insane thing in this clip.

If nuclear-armed major powers decide that they're going to treat the UN Charter like garbage, there is regrettably nothing any other treaty can do to protect against that.

It's not the main reason that any future democratic administration needs to not hire Jake Sullivan (that would be his role in refusing to stop the flow of US weapons & funds into the genocide of Gaza) but him being this petty about accurate reporting is disqualifying alone

Assuming it is real, Biden's "no Santa in Israel, pal" line is a perfect example of how Biden could make a lot of noise about cutting off Israel while never lifting a finger to do that for any reason. He would berate Netanyahu in private, and then enable all of his crimes anyway. Truly pathetic

Granted, it's John Bolton, but this is bizarre revisionism even for him. Trump *increased* support for the Saudis and the UAE in his first term. Biden started illegally bombing Yemen in 2024. What is he talking about?
In his first term, Donald Trump backed away from Saudi and Emirati efforts to eliminate the Houthi threat in Yemen, notwithstanding the risks posed to maritime passage through the Red Sea. Things went from bad to worse under Joe Biden, reflecting his broader anti-Saudi proclivities, despite growing Houthi threats to commerce.

The youngest person his pager attack killed was 9-year-old Fatima Abdullah, who had just started 4th grade. The pager was on a table when it went off and she picked it up to take to her dad. It exploded in her face and reports said it covered the room in her blood. She wanted to learn English.
