Does make a few areas of town hard to get to (very car dependent), but they aren’t worth going to anyway. Really don’t feel like I’m missing out. (That said I wish Cambridge bus network got reworked completely, it is horrible).

I hate driving and the direct+indirect costs. Also poor but lucky enough to live in a very walkable part of KW, everything close. Typically I just stick to ION when needing to go farther or one of the main routes. Frequency & reliability of the other bus routes is not great. Cost is the main reason

I so wish KW and Guelph got on presto. It would make local transit from the go train require one card everywhere. Reduce friction. I don’t drive so GO and local transit on either end is my go to. Presto really makes that nice is so many areas of the greater Golden Horseshoe area.

I think they are a support crew for the fiber instal near king and Andrew street, or they could be one of the crews working on the electro home building. Lot of contractors in the area recently.

People need to realize the ION train weighs as much as a loaded dump truck… you would not want to be hit my a dump truck… I still think punishments should be steeper, might be a deterrent to doing risky things. Loss of license, charges & fines, jail time, reimbursement of repair costs.

Looks like they will be working into the night. The crew is setup and working on getting it back on the track. Probably got it down to a science now, MVPs of the team. Seen somebody recording video of the work. Wonder who, that be cool to see it being put on the track.

Reset back to zero. Looks like an out of town work truck. U-turn to go down the side street at King/Andrew. Utility construction of some kind…. Getting fed up with how often this happens. I think I saw the last driver that did this faces charges or a fine. Hope that is a trend.

That said not sure how well a sale will go, it use to be a gas station long before the McD’s so not sure if they have to do modern soil remediation before building. That usually kills construction or sale.

It was kind of a shame that the McD’s closed years before the area changed (before ION, before towers, before construction). It probably would have done pretty well in that location. Lot is for sale. Hopefully they put a restaurant in the bottom of the building they will build there.

Just needs more commercial business to open up in the bottom of these high rises… midtown still kind of dead (more so Kitchener than Waterloo). Tons of opportunities, but I suspect they are asking too much for monthly commercial rent.

Lot of people say why does it not stop in X Y Z town and have double the stops. If you can hit the major cities and do region trains or buses there that is slower than it can efficiently move people. Adding stops slows stuff down. I’ll be happy if and when shovels go in the ground.

There is tons of domestic flights that don’t need to exist. The corridor has a significant population, and if we can move those people on the land for a similar trip time that would free up airports to focus on domestic flights out west or flights out of country.

But on the post, yeah speeding up and reducing trip times on transit is a win. If they can increase frequency too that be another win. But will take any improvement. Reducing friction benefits existing riders and goes a long way to getting non-transit users interested.

I live close to a rail line (different one), idling for up to 2hrs seems excessive. 2019, kind of curious if things has improved, perhaps with scheduling so they wait shorter times or faster approvals to use the section of track. Thanks for sharing. That is an aspect I had not thought about too

Maybe? It could also be both? I think the only people who would be able to answer that definitely would be the people who installed the equipment. Either situation is not ideal, over high trains or unexpected fright train while ion is in on the same section. Not sure who would be the official to ask

Technically it does, freight trains use the LRT track at night in uptown on the Waterloo spur. Had to wait for it to slowly creep down the track. (And CN broke one of the IONs switches a while back and it has been a slow zone so I hear)
