I have a lot of regrets in my life, but one of my biggest is not buying a new cpu, motherboard and ram a year ago.

Standing in line at my local apple store to buy one now, going to be the first person to get it!

Do you ever plant something and by the time it starts sprouting you have no idea what you planted and you either need to take care of some trees over the winter or your cat is about to get some catnip. I really need to label things.

I switched to #Bazzite #linux two days ago from Windows 11 which has been a really positive experience. A lot better process than the last few distros I've tried. I'm documenting my experience in a few posts on my app Newt. In part 1 I create a sticky note app. newt.page/u/samwichgam...

I'm back to Linux on my desktop after a stretch with Windows 11 because I couldn't copy my onedrive contents to my NAS reliably without installing it. In retrospect I should have just run a VM on…

It’s painful seeing what an amazing VP we could have had. What compassion we missed out on as a nation. Keep being amazing Tim!

Good design is so obvious when you see it but takes so much refinement and thoughtfulness to achieve.

I just patted myself on the back for doing something good for myself and it kind of felt nice 🤣

Newt keeps improving! I just added the ability to add your own LLM to it which adds features like researching an article further, proof reading your post (not writing it) and asking general questions that will pull content from your feed to help supplement the answer. newt.page/u/samwichgam...

AMD has me spelling Epic as Epyc every time.

Nevermind, you do. I just didn't see it right away in my RSS reader.

It’s wild that I love @realinfowars.bsky.social Wtf is happening with my reality, @theonion.com is doing good in this world.

That's a lot of people who may be going hungry thanks to the republican party.

The first two are wild, the third is not that understandable. The only solid one is the latest icon.

The 27betas have felt more complete than 26 ever was. Looking forward to beta4!

000

Daniel @danielgt.com · 13/07/2026

The new #siri in iOS 27 is actually… good? I mean good enough at least, I can discuss a topic and it follows along and is helpful. Maybe it’s a low bar in this world of Claude and Gemini but it’s really nice!

000

Daniel @danielgt.com · 30/06/2026

Exciting! What’s new in this build?

000

Daniel @danielgt.com · 30/06/2026

My newest app is almost ready! So excited for it!

I'm really beginning to think OS26 was just a really long open beta.

One of the first things I noticed on my phone is every app expands now (other than settings interestingly). I didn’t think Apple would really do a fold, but it looks pretty conclusive now.

Daniel @danielgt.com · 14/06/2026

The wallpaper with Mac OS Golden Gate is about my only disappointment with this release. This wallpaper fixes that!

If I could have one semi useless superpower it would be the ability to unzip anyone’s fly. If I’m losing an argument, *ziiiip* and you automatically lose because I can point out your fly is undone.

It’s wild that even in the PNW solar makes sense, that we can build competitive panels and use this to help achieve energy independence while also creating high paying jobs and keeping our country beautiful. Some people would rather let things burn I guess.

020

Daniel @danielgt.com · 13/06/2026

Last year I was thinking about adding to my solar. I was going to use my local company that’s fantastic and was growing when I had my last panels installed, the panels are made 30 minutes from my house. I was worried Trump would cause issues with the tax incentives so I skipped it.

You can’t make a trillion without a huge number of people suffering.

020

Daniel @danielgt.com · 09/06/2026

It’s wild how much faster #Mac OS 27 feels on my M4 Mini. Honestly the beta feels better than 26 ever did.

000

Daniel @danielgt.com · 05/06/2026

I just started using #GitHub Actions to auto deploy images to #Docker Hub and I feel so dumb for not doing this previously. It may take a little bit longer then building locally but having it done automatically is fantastic.

010

Daniel @danielgt.com · 28/05/2026

It’s a great selling point to me. LLMs try to answer questions, and will double down on mistakes once they’re in context so this self analysis and correction could be pretty huge for the average user that might not understand this.

000

Daniel @danielgt.com · 28/05/2026

The update is helping the llm do exactly that. The reasoning portion it sounds like has been improved so it is more likely to see those mistakes before passing the data to the user and when it does make mistakes it is less likely to gaslight the user which is another important step.

000

Daniel @danielgt.com · 28/05/2026

I noticed that you can now hide Copilot in Edge. These are positive changes.

000

Daniel @danielgt.com · 28/05/2026

The price of gas is wild. Elections feel so far away right now.

000

Daniel @danielgt.com · 28/05/2026

I've been going crazy on some #homelab projects lately. My latest is called BayWatch which is a docker app that monitors drives, location in drive bays, federation, external exporting of data and lots more. I'm loving how the design is turning out!

What's wild to me is thinking how long it has been since Steve Jobs was in charge. I kept seeing things in this photo and thinking "wait, he hasn't been in charge THAT long" but dang it has been this long.

Why does the #ios ui change so much when selecting an item? I get the color change but it can get shorter with tighter curvature. Such an odd choice.

I really appreciate that American Eagle is making products for #nevernudes. There are literally dozens of us and we deserve representation!

I’m honestly surprised the US doesn’t have some arcane measurement for battery percentage. Like we measure it by years with a full battery being the average life of a man in 1870 living in Pennsylvania. “Yeah, I have 59 years, I’m fully charged!”
