This is the myth of the golf course redevelopment and how it will benefit all South Australians. In short, it will not benefit all South Australians. It will benefit only those who can pay to use what is, allegedly, public parklands open to all. #SAParli #Golf

This is the kind of person that Peter Malinauskus has put in charge of moving wildlife from Possum Park, all so Greg Norman and his rich mates can play golf. It’d be a shame to see this go viral. #Adelaide #golf

#AdelaideWritersFestival is now cancelled for 2026. This is incredibly sad and insanely frustrating. This should never have happened, and steps have to be put in place to ensure no outside agency or politician can influence the event ever again. www.theguardian.com/australia-ne...

Why are people so scared of words? What terrifies some people about a group of writers talking in public? Suppression and censorship of writers has happened in the past, and it's never ended well for everyone. Now it's happening again. Do not go quietly. #AdelaideWritersFestival

Louise Adler has stood down as director of #AdelaideWritersWeek. Her reasons explain everything. I am gutted. If you applaud the demise of writer's week, you need serious help. This is an event of literature and views. What are people so afraid of? www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

You can add Henry Reynolds to this now as he’s withdrawn. There have been some who have wanted to defund the #AdelaideWritersWeek for a while now. Thanks to the actions of the Board, they’re going to get their way. This is sadness beyond words.

No Adelaide Writers Week for me. I can’t in any good conscience now appear at a festival seeking to mute a very necessary public conversation … Randa Abdel-Fattah is an important voice. As a former Director of Adelaide Writers' Week I am appalled that the Adelaide Festival Board has rescinded Dr Randa Abdel-Fattah's invitation to the 2026 AWW, explicitly linking its decision to the shattering crimes in Bondi. A shocking decision that will and should have far-reaching consequences.

This is highly disappointing. #AdelaideWritersWeek has caved in under pressure from lobbyists and are now removing people who don't fall into line with Zionists. This is not how Writer's Week should be run. This is pure censorship from the Board. I can't see it survives now.

Looking over the preliminary list for 2026's Adelaide Writer's Week. So far everything announced is a ticketed event that will cost money. I guess the days of seeing great authors free of charge at Writer's Week is over. So sad. I'll still go, but I can't afford all of it. #WritersWeek

Each week I become more and more reclusive. It’s odd really. I don’t mind it when I do see people, but I go for weeks on end without talking to anyone other than neighbours. I’m at the point where only one chum invites me for brekkie now, and that’s when he visits from Melbourne. It’s interesting.

My uncle once told me, if you’re an arsehole in life you don’t become a saint in death. When someone dies, their ‘good’ does not erase their ‘bad’. It all makes up the whole of a life. You don’t get to pick and choose what you want people to talk about. Just tell the truth.

Never liked it. It's just an awful day for many reasons. The abuse of animals, the domestic violence, the fleecing of people. It'd be good to see this kind of crap ended for good, but that's a long way off. Until then, you won't catch me near it. #NupToTheCup

Best way to get it, in Tasmania, is through Cracked and Spineless. They have a supply there which I’ve signed. And they do mail order. They’re selling the book for the right price, which is $39.99. Amazon also have it for that price.

Kinda. But there wasn’t much difference between a Holden and a Ford. Both had four wheels, doors, engines and did the same job, but they competed to be better than the other. That’s how it should work. It’ll never happen, but it could, and it should.

020

Daniel Best - Author @danielbest.bsky.social · 27/06/2025

That’s right. Then it’ll come down to who has the best policies that benefit everyone, not just the few. Politicians would have to actually take notice of what people want and need. Radical, I know. But easily achievable.

120

Daniel Best - Author @danielbest.bsky.social · 27/06/2025

Further right isn't the answer. They should move more towards the centre, dump the stupid policies (such as nuclear power, tax breaks for the uber rich) and get back to being the real party of Menzies. They're as far removed from Menzies as I've ever seen.

Daniel Best - Author @danielbest.bsky.social · 27/06/2025

It's an amazingly sad story to report on, and it's only getting worse. This is what happens when the lawyers move in and the business is broken up and sold to people who give the impression of not caring what happens. It's now just about money. Heartbreaking really.

020

Daniel Best - Author @danielbest.bsky.social · 27/06/2025

Why is this happening? Because the Liberal Party is out of touch with the youth of the country. That's not just here in South Australia, but country wide. The traditional Liberal voting base is dying off and they're not picking enough new ones up. They're not relevant. #SAparli #auspol

Any other point in time, Tarzia would be booted. The trouble is, nobody wants the job. The only viable alternative is Ashton Hurn, and she's not stepping up. She might not have a seat after the election. They're finished. #SAParli #auspol

If this trend is replicated at the election in eight months time, then the Liberal Party will be reduced to two seats in the Lower House. As the site says, this would be 'the worst performance by the conservative side of politics since 1857.' #SAParli #auspol

If this trend continues, then the Liberal Party will be wiped out in South Australia. More proof that what the Liberals are offering is not what the public want. They need a complete change, but they won't get it with Antic in charge. #SAParli #auspol au.yougov.com/politics/art...
