Denis Johnson has two books in the @nytimes.com list of the best books of the century. He's got talent. But this novel is terrible. I have 100 pages left, so I'll finish it, but ... His style is hazy, drug-y, narcotic, which I like! But here it's mostly a cover for lazy, incoherent writing.

Yeah, no. I mean, I think LLM / AI will be increasingly accepted as helpful. But writing involves far more than just passing along information, which is why people use (and I absolutely rely on) Google Maps. Writing involves style and verve and framing and context, etc. @weisenthal.bsky.social

Okay, this 1970 French #film, The Red Circle (Le Cercle Rouge), was pretty great! The long, silent heist scene was remarkable. The cinematography and wide-angle shots were similar to other classic 70s films, the movie radiated a cool vibe, and the lead guy was a noir-ish anti-hero.

Lemme predict how this'll play out. The Heat, interested in Ja Morant but only at a lowball price so they're still well-positioned to trade for Giannis Antetokounmpo in the offseason, will lose out on Morant to Milwaukee, and that trade will convince Giannis to stay with the Bucks. A perfect storm.

It's those bottom two rows in the chart that jump out at me. For all the bellyaching about Biden's economy, 2024 November holiday spending was the highest on the chart, and 2025 November holiday spending is lower than the pandemic years and among the most anemic on the chart. That's *Trump's economy

I've dropped 40 pounds in a year and roughly 90 pounds over the last eight years. Yeah, it's definitely hard. A lot of it, for me, is diet and, of course, I also do a high intensity workout class almost every weekday. And being nearly 60 doesn't make things any easier, lol.

Okay, this is at least an attempt to explain why prices haven't gone up, as predicted. And while it just seems businesses are kicking the can down the road a bit (at a steep price) maybe that's enough, as it affords add'l time to make policy adjustments that could avoid the worst impacts of tariffs
