Just remember: Understand the products you are using, the fundamentals, and stay in the loop. And ALWAYS say "Thank you" after your prompts 😅

No matter where you are in you developer career - even if you are just starting out - you start by owning the product that you aim to deliver, because you have the power to delegate tasks to agents.

Yea, sometimes I miss grinding away at creating components and hooking everything up, but that isn't completely gone. We still get to solve problems - we still exercise our developer brains, just in a different way.

Now, no matter the title or experience, you are forced to think in terms of architecture and best practices - this is why it is so important to understand the fundamentals of software/web development and architecture.

In my career, I have had the opportunity to always think about architecture and be a part of the conversation, but as a developer, senior, lead dev - you still have to do the implementation part. Before AI, this took up most of our time as developers without the "Architect" title.

"Product Engineers" or rather "Product Architects". I have heard these used as new titles for software developers after this agentic shift, and I think it's a perfect description of how our jobs have shifted.

Such a great experience! Are you interested in learning how you can use AI to learn alongside all of the agentic coding? If so, give this a watch! I'd love to hear from you and have a discussion on your thoughts, how you use AI, and if you use it to learn. #webdevelopment #cascadiajs #ai #agentic

Yup - I couldn't agree more Luna. Technical, experience devs still need to own the end product, otherwise you get things that are unmaintainable, overengineered, and lacking in Security.

Two questions on my mind: - What's the new approach to perf reviews as AI gets adopted? - What does it even mean to be a "high-performing developer" now? What do you think? 👇 #DevRel #DeveloperExperience #AI #BuildInPublic #TechCommunity

For those who know me, you know I take a people-first approach to AI. So I'm genuinely curious what this panel has to say: leaddev.com/technical-di... @leaddev.com @storyblok.com

What are engineers getting paid for now?
As organizations ‘hire’ more agents, we need to talk about how we evaluate and value human engineers.

My first blog post: danieljmendoza.com/2025/10/22/n... It is mostly just a summary of Nextjs 16 release features, but I plan on making more in depth posts on each feature, tech trends, burnout, mental health, and imposter syndrome in tech - especially for POC. All while making it as fun as I can 😅

🔹Some breaking changes: minimum Node.js version is now 20.9+, TypeScript 5.1+, AMP support has been removed entirely, middleware.ts is deprecated for certain runtimes, and other config changes.

🔹Refined caching APIs: revalidateTag() has been updated (now requires a cachelife profile), and new updateTag()/refresh() Server-Actions ONLY APIs to display fresh data for interactive features and refreshing uncached data.

🔹 Improved routing/navigation with layout-deduplication and incremental prefetching.

Daniel Mendoza @daniel-mendoza.bsky.social · 22/10/2025
🔹Stable React Compiler support (automatically memoizes components) - I can already image the reddit threads on this one 😅

🔷 Additional updates that have been stabilised or introduced since the beta: 🔹Turbopack is now default for new projects with substantial speed gain

🔸 Enhanced verbose logging during development and builds, giving better insight into compile times, rendering latency and static page generation.

Daniel Mendoza @daniel-mendoza.bsky.social · 22/10/2025
🔸 Replacement of middleware.ts with proxy.ts to clarify network boundaries and standardise request interception on Node.js runtime (APIs available only for use within Proxy still work on Edge Runtime).

Daniel Mendoza @daniel-mendoza.bsky.social · 22/10/2025
🔸 Integration of a DevTools MCP (Model Context Protocol) for enhanced debugging workflows, giving deeper visibility into routing, logs, detailed errors, and contextual awareness 😲.

Key highlights: 🔸 The new Cache Components model, which uses a "use cache" directive to give developers explicit control over caching pages, components and functions. "Unlike the implicit caching found in previous versions of the App Router, caching with Cache Components is entirely opt-in."
