I think Private Eye doesn’t understand how LLMs watermark their output.
Section reads: Meanwhile Anthropic, the company behind the popular LLM Claude, has committed to "include machine-readable marks in content that Claude generates" effectively watermarking the model's
output. The only problem is that they can be removed simply by making a screengrab of the text and, er, using another Al to transcribe it.

Actual lol.
A post reads:
Jim Pickard has just blocked me for suggesting Mandelson is no longer news and maybe he should investigate
Farage's financial affairs.
What a wimp.
A reply: He has investigated though.

I wasn't aware of this and I'm guessing it's behind a pay wall.
My point stands, Mandelson is no longer news and there are plenty of more worthwhile topics to pursue.

Wut.
Waugh writes that the brighter pupils remembered him with affection. He taught them about architecture, botany, geology, bought a microscope for them, made model steam engines, showed them how to dissect a squirrel and how to boil the flesh off a fox and then
reassemble its skeleton.

Has anyone told him about the Royal family?
I agree with Restore Britain that Britain should ban cousin marriage to protect children from preventable harm and uphold British social norms.

This isn’t the most egregious case but a helpful example with what’s gone wrong with the Guardian reporting. These paragraphs are essentially randomly ordered.
One in seven food businesses on major delivery platforms,
including Deliveroo and Just Eat, is now a "dark kitchen", a university study shows.
The findings, which shine a light on the scale of the hidden
takeaway industry, found that 15% of all online food retailers in England were dark kitchens.
Also known as "cloud", "ghost" or
"virtual" kitchens, they are delivery-only with no customer-facing storefront.
Despite rapid growth, they have - until now - lacked a clear and consistent definition, creating challenges for regulators, local authorities, food safety officers, industry stakeholders and consumers.

The Guardian is so thoughtlessly edited these days it has a story about the US on a page headed “National”.

I’m yet again asking striking doctors to not do their own PR.
UK media is literally just millionaire presenters calling doctors greedy for wanting to be paid more than £18 an hour for saving your lives in the middle of the night

This is the road next to my parents’s house. It hasn’t been resurfaced in over a decade. There are so many potholes and loose stones you have to drive at 5mph and still chunks of road fly off dangerously. You can’t cycle on it. This is why Labour won’t get re-elected; nothing to do with boats.

I am baffled why anyone would think these have relevant expertise.
What happens when an internationally bestselling historian, a Nobel peace prize-winning journalist and a former politician get together to discuss the state of the world, and where we’re heading? Yuval Noah Harari is an Israeli medieval and military historian best known for his panoramic surveys of human history, including Sapiens, Homo Deus and, most recently, Nexus: A Brief History of Information Networks from the Stone Age to AI. Don’t let them steal the idea of England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿
“Why do you ever come back, then, at all?” he demanded of the swallows jealously. “What do you find to attract you in this poor drab little country?”“And do you think,” said the first swallow, “that the other call is not for us too, in its due season? The call of lush meadow-grass, wet orchards, warm, insect-haunted ponds, of browsing cattle, of haymaking, and all the farm-buildings clustering round the House of the perfect Eaves?”
“Do you suppose,” asked the second one, that you are the only living thing that craves with a hungry longing to hear the cuckoo’s note again?”
“In due time,” said the third, “we shall be home-sick once more for quiet water-lilies swaying on the surface of an English stream. But to-day all that seems pale and thin and very far away. Just now our blood dances to other music.”

This leader is correct in one important respect: Rayner’s plans would complete the original proposal in the Redcliffe-Maude Report to have unitary authorities across England (they’ve already been imposed in Scotland and Wales).
