We need to stop talking about layoffs in the passive voice, like it's some natural disaster that happens to studios. When it's very much done on purpose by the studio or their owners. We need to say how many people were fired without cause and by whom.

As for the concept of stamina, I have been fiddling with it as a substitute for HP, to show how one's ability to stay away from danger slowly is reduced. It can also be useful to fuel abilities and easier to justify regaining it.

I agree with the sentiment, but my first thought is that fights that are not theatre-of-the-mind could corral participants in the space, and might have them running in circles. On the other hand, you could pull off a duel-of-the-fates-style showdown across a whole dungeon, which could be awesome.
