At one point, the US was officially opposed to snuff films, and also criticized those who filmed executions and posted them online as abhorrent and part of a sick and twisted culture. Now we're making the snuff films ourself and are proudly part of that culture.

How about corporate sponsorship? Charlie Kirk suggested Coca Cola as a corporate sponsor for the public state executions he said children should be forced to watch, for one idea.

Heck, Schmitt is still running with "there was only one men's sports game in Atlanta that day, yet this lying guy says he was at a different game, can you believe it?"

Is that not also an argument against euthanasia, if it's true that there is no method of putting someone to death that does not torture a small but substantial number of them?

when Illinois abolished the death penalty, they cited numerous executions of people who were later exonerated and the massive cost of appeals. no mention of the ethics of the punishment or the scope of government. their argument was still compelling. abolish it

Eh, we've decided we can deliver non-traumatic euthanasia, where the person goes into the room knowing they are going to be put to death.

Yes every woman has been harassed, many assaulted. But every woman has also experienced invisible loss from moments she avoided harassment. She felt a space becoming unsafe, so she left, while men stayed on. And in leaving, she lost: opportunities, experiences, learning, promotions, even simply fun.

On the contrary, he's been doubling down in appearances since then, saying, "It was the only NBA or NCAA men’s game going on at that time in Atlanta. He claimed later that he was at another game." As if Smith said he was at a different men's game in Atlanta, rather than a women's game in Maryland.

Though he didn't eat his words - he's going around saying "there was only one men's sports game in Atlanta that day, and this lying dirtbag claims he was at a different game, can you believe it?" And the RW bubble eats it up.

And the way it's playing in RW media, bizarrely, is "It was the only NBA or NCAA men’s game going on at that time in Atlanta. He claimed later that he was at another game." As if he claimed he was at a different men's sports game in Atlanta, rather than women's sports in a different city.

Given the certified or signature-required mail that gets put in my mailbox for the law firm one block over, I'm not sure how much harm that would do 😄 unless of course other USPS areas actually do require the actual signature!

The 1950s notion of women switching from spending Mondays doing all the laundry by hand to turning on a machine and then playing bridge with friends, rather than turning on a machine and then filling that time with other labor. (Still great not to have to do all the laundry by hand, though!)

The Greek Orthodox day school near me in Houston has assorted LGBT+ staff and supports students' self-expression and identities in ways that would get them in legal trouble in the local public schools. Definitely not right-wing (even if a few staff are). And hosting Greek Fest next weekend!

I like braeburn but find honeycrisp to taste flat and overly sweet, with no depth of flavor. Haven't had cosmic crisp yet, out of the assumption it would have a similar taste. Pink Lady is not so sweet. But I like Bramley for eating too, so I may be weird :)

If you're homeless and elderly, chances are you don't have wealthy friends and family who can provide you unlimited free housing and home health care and all that. And expecting your daughter to give up her job to care for you full time for free just means you're both eventually homeless.

Up there with Dave Ramsey telling people to just find free summer camps instead of wasting money on childcare, they often think nursing homes are free. Heard a local NPR segment on the topic, and the helpful advice for when funds run out was to ask friends and family if they'll house you for free.
