One of my headlights isn’t working, so I’ve phoned the mechanic: “Which headlight is broken?” “Left”, I answered without hesitating. I have spent all day wondering if she meant as the driver sees it or as if you’re looking at the front of the car. I meant left as the driver sees it.

Tonight is my last night of full time employment. After 18 years, I'm quitting radio, and enrolling to re-train as a maths and science teacher. I'm pondering starting an email newsletter/blog to document the journey. Is that interesting to anyone or nah not really? Genuinely asking.

Millennials who were 9-15yo in 2001 had a small taste of what life could be like. We were told to expect great things, we could become whoever we wanted, the world would be our oyster. Then planes hit towers. And we’ve watched metaphorical planes hit towers almost every year since. Some life.

No joke, I have a note on my phone with a story idea eerily similar to yours! I've not written anything of length other than school essays or blogs in my life so a novel or short story seems out of reach. Who knows... maybe one day. Now I can just look forward to reading yours!

I have little evidence to support my theory, but I think teenagers struggle with writing (word choice, grammar, run-on sentences, etc) because they don't have conversations out loud with grown ups as young children. I think that's where I learned what "sounds right" when it comes to words.

I did the maths (of course I did). Go buy 5 tomorrow and open one door per day and you'll get there. The chocolate on Day 120 will taste no better or worse than the chocolate on Day 1. Hell, after each 24 days, celebrate by eating the cardboard itself for a tasty reprieve.

So here's the thing with our cat. The name is Aslan. This was picked before cat was adopted. Said adopted cat is a girl (very uncommon for female ginger cats but clearly not impossible). We progressed with male pronouns for simplicity. Aslan's vet thinks the whole thing is hilarious.
