Screenshot from the wikipedia page for the Heart single "Barracuda"

In a March 2019 interview with Gear Factor, Nancy Wilson said:

"We'd been opening for a band called Nazareth in Europe and also for Queen. And Nazareth had a hit with a Joni Mitchell song that they covered [in 1973] called "This Flight Tonight" that had kind of that riff. So we kind of borrowed that. And we made it into 'Barracuda'. And we saw the guys from Nazareth later and they were pissed. 'You took our riff!' But that's kind of what everybody—you borrow from what you love and then you make it your own. It's one of those sounds too, it's one of those guitar tones that I'm still trying to figure out what we did. [Laughs] It's hard to re-create."[8]

I can’t tell you how rewarding it is to go through old records, throw something on cold, then do some googling after it blows you away. What the fuck you mean a guy known mostly for writing songs for the fucking Oak Ridge Boys put out a power pop record with a science fiction story suite on side B?

On today's French Fuck Friday, where we take a look at a different fucked looking French airplane each week, we have this ugly duckling: the Dewoitine 700. Eventually developed into a less ugly swan, the 750 torpedo bomber, which still looks wrong thanks to that double decker cockpit
A weirdly proportioned, nose-heavy twin engine airplane with a shoulder mounted wing and twin tail style vertical stabilizers. The entire nose portion is glazed with geometric glass panes and juts out strangely toward the bottom. The landing gear look much too spindly, giving a kind of "chicken leg" effect to the whole appearance. The Dewoitine 700 in flight, the close inboard engine nacelles on the high mounted wing giving the plane a hunched, shrugged shoulders lookThe Dewoitine 750 prototype torpedo bomber. This development retains the general layout but improves aerodynamics and adds a weird hump on top of the fuselage with what looks like an extra cockpit.

This idea is most familiar as the "swing wing" of such famous aircraft as the F-14 Tomcat or B-1 Lancer, where the wing can have a delta shape for supersonic flight or straight out to the side wings for take off and landing.

We're back with French Fuck Friday, where we admire a different fucked up looking airplane from France. It may not be fair to pick on experimental designs, but just LOOK at how fucked the Gérin 1938 Varivol V.6 looks! The idea was a variable geometry wing that extends to aid take off and landing
A small propellor driven plane with an elongated nose hosing a very unusual pair of wings: a naked spar with several smaller spars hanging off the back with a very thing wing surface only beginning several feet from the fuselage. An aerodynamic model of the aircraft showing how the variable geometry wing works: for increased lift at take off and landing, a wing surface extends out from the inner wing surface to increase wing surface and reduce wing loading. This can be retracted at altitude to take advantage of performance improvements gained with a smaller, slimmer wing. A photograph from above of the aircraft with the lift-improving wing extensions deployed.

Maurice Delanne was SO devoted to the staggered biplane "duo-monoplane" concept that there was a enough material for a monograph about it

I deeply love the study aircraft Delanne built and flew to test the staggered bi-plane concept before committing to the militarized Aresenal-Delanne 10 version, the Delanne 20. Those stylish wheel spats look slick as hell.
The Delanne 20, closely resembling the Arsenal-Delanne 10 but with stylish streamlining spats on the landing wheels

It's French Fuck Friday, where every week we celebrate a different fucked looking interwar French airplane and folks we got a humdinger today: the experimental Arsenal-Delanne 10 staggered wing bi-plane fighter! Developed since 1938, the prototype finally took flight a month before Battle of France.
The Arsenal-Delanne 10's fuselage resembles a laterally compressed sausage, it's in-line engine up front. Just behind the engine a parasol gull wing is mounted to the top of the fuselage, with the cockpit and an extensively glazed defensive gunner position taking up the back end. Below the cockpit and so behind the upper wings are mounted the lower wings, each with a horizontal stabilizer affixed to the tip.

The one prototype constructed had fixed landing gear of a typical tailwheel design, although the plane's odd construction means the small back wheel is below the cockpit rather than a tail. Side view of the aircraft, showing the staggered bi-plane arrangement. A rear view of the aircraft after sustaining some damage to the lower wings in a rough landing, giving a good view of the fully-glazed rear of the fuselage.Schematic drawing of the Arsenal-Delanne 10, including a profile view with landing gear retracted, as the aircraft would appear in its planned production version.

Actually, speaking of Sheckley, I discovered that he wrote a Babylon 5 tie in novel. Pretty left field pick I would have thought, but looks like he did a handful of franchise novels in his late career. Feels like when Joan Vinge novelized Cowboys vs. Aliens (although B5 is way better than that)
