For once there's something on which I can agree with Mr Bunch, but perhaps it's because a lot of people really can't read. Only about a third of public-school students in the city test as grade level proficient in reading. www.phillyvoice.com/philadelphia...

Except that to work here without legal documentation is a felony, first offense is two years in federal prison. The illegals have to commit crimes to stay here, every day, just to survive here.

If they are here illegally and have no previous charges against them, it simply means that yes, they are criminals, but just hadn't been caught previously. They need to return to their home countries, and if they want, apply to immigrate here legally.

The problem is not mass incarceration; the problem is that not enough people are incarcerated, for not a long enough time. Remember three strikes laws? A third felony should mean life in prison without the possibility of parole.

We fear for our lives after being told our abusive exes will be freed from jail early
The premise that releasing dangerous criminals early will somehow make the streets safer is a notion that defies not just common sense, but the very logic of justice.

The Department of Justice under Merrick Garland allowed them to plead guilty to a single misdemeanor count of 40 USC § 5104(e)(2)(G) – Parading, Demonstrating, or Picketing in a Capitol Building. Six months is the maximum sentence for that. The judges could give them no more, and frequently less.
