Not afraid to take the path of maximum resistance. Too loud. Habitually overdressed. More responsible than you think.

Elliot said this was his favorite show he's seen (about five?), because of the way the band engaged with the audience and made it interactive and personal - even from the balcony.

Lots of GenX parents with teens here. Making those kids' albums was apparently a great business decision.

Two generations of @tmbg.bsky.social lovers. I saw them for the first time when I was not much older than this one.
Me trying to get my 15 yo to smile. Selfie on red velvet theater seats. I have glasses and brown hair and my son is wearing a black T-shirt and pink baseball hat.

This was my bribe for passing 8th grade. If he got all A/Bs, the tickets were his. If he got a C or D, we went together. If he failed a class, they were mine.

Worked really well in the past.
A poster from Maoist China advertising the Four Pests Campaign. It shows two workers sweeping and using pesticide to kill rats, mosquitos, and sparrows.

Millions of sparrows were killed.[37] While the campaign was meant to increase yields, concurrent droughts and floods as well as the lacking sparrow population decreased rice yields.[38][39] The extermination of sparrows upset the ecological balance, which subsequently resulted in surging locust and other insect populations that destroyed crops due to a lack of a natural predator.[40][41]

With no sparrows to eat them, locust populations ballooned, swarming the country and compounding the ecological problems already caused by the Great Leap Forward, including widespread deforestation and misuse of poisons and pesticides.[39] Although sparrows were removed from the Four Pests in 1960, the disruption of ecological balance, combined with errors in food distribution policies and the exaggeration of crop production figures, led to the Great Chinese Famine.[42][43][44][45] According to a 2025 study, the anti-sparrow campaign accounted for a nearly 20 percent drop in crop production, leading to the deaths of two million people.[46][47]

By the end of the Four Pests campaign, the Eurasian tree sparrow was practically extinct from China, which afterwards imported 250,000 Eurasian tree sparrows from the Soviet Union to recover its population.

After raising 6 children & being a wife to a dairy farmer, she got her nursing degree & a certificate in Justice & Peace Studies. She went on to organize rural Lutheran churches to work on migrant farm worker health & published a curriculum for rural churches on immigrant justice.

When people on this site paint rural, religious people with a broad brush of ignorance & bigotry, I wonder how much time they spend outside of the city. My aunt, who died this week, was one of many examples of rural, religious people doing the hard work long before most people here were born.

Back at it. Embroidering along the four yard hem. The cotton argyle strip is bias tape that will be turned under to finish the hem. I am using it now to measure.
Purple wool unfinished hem of a dress with argyle bias tape. In silver variegated floss a vine is being embroidered and in cursive "made with human intelligence."

The Spot Bar. It is like family - you can go there & just talk to people, they have cribbage tournaments & chili cook offs & craft sales that all build community. We all ordered pizza together yesterday. Drinks are super cheap & strong. They have creepy basement.

If it makes you feel better I saw him in May 2025 and it was so boring. He was playing for himself and not the audience. A three hour, self indulgent jam session. So disappointed.

Exciting night at the Spot. Kevin is trying to kill a wasp.
The Spot Bar. It feels like your grandparents basement in the 1970s but it's a bar. Green Xmas lights. Lots of knickknacks and old regulars. Kevin is standing on the back of the bar with a fly swatter. The wasp is in a framed cymbal.

I mean, if you sew it yourself, the pockets can be as big as you want.

The people having this debate clearly don't go to the same funerals I do. No one would even notice an iced coffee.
This funeral was 10 am on a Tuesday.

A table top sign that says, "The Gordie Special

Vodka

Mountain Dew

2 Green olives

Over ice

$2.75."

It has been open sporadically. Why I am asking is that it seems day to day and there are only signs at the entrance - no website to check. I don't want to plan to bike to work and then have to turn around. What I am asking if anyone saw it open today.

My Rage Against the Machine/Les Mis mashup is complete. This is my interpretation of the quilt guild’s summer challenge “quilt with your interpretation and/or feelings towards our current ‘democracy’” all hand stitched.
Quilt hanging on a card catalog. Neutral background with navy cursive appliqué “Do you hear thr people sing?” The background is embroidered in red starting light and getting bolder the lyrics to “killing in the name” the quilting effect is a focused sunburst from the center.

During the Industrial Revolution, Switzerland knew it couldn't compete by having huge factories. Rather than make 1,000 crappy watches, they make 1 amazing watch. Now they are wealthy from luxury goods. I am Switzerland. I will do less but it will be incredible. I will not bank with Nazis, tho.

It's cheesy but your girls would like the fairy forest. Balloon fencing is fun (I worked there), the joust is impressive, there are lots of good shows, people watching, playing in straw & dirt, probably plan on buying princess hats, the Irish Cottage, the carousel.

Finished the bodice embroidery, assembled the bodice and lining, and joined at the neckline. It will eventually lace up the sides with ribbon and have a skirt. Now I have to get to church and run errands.
A half sewn burgundy wool bodice on a grey dress form. The front has a sweetheart neckline with silver embroidery of a leafy vine and black and pink flowers. The back of a half finished wool bodice on a grey dress form. In variegated grey floss the word handcrafted is embroidered at the neckline.
