On Sunday, the Harry Potter writer posted a criticism of trans women being allowed into women’s changing rooms on X and in the thread she spoke about Willoughby and said: “India didn’t become a woman. India is cosplaying a misogynistic male fantasy of what a woman is.”

Trans woman killed by transphobic medical neglect in an NHS hospital, linked to legal fundraiser in quoted post.
Joelle was 27. She was a gifted musician, a self-taught coder, funny, generous and deeply loved.

She had an aggressive lymphoma that almost always curable when treated as a medical emergency. A bed was available on the cancer ward when she arrived at Wolverhampton NHS Trust. After staff saw that she was a trans woman, she was removed from the ward and placed in a side ward on the other side of the hospital. She suffered 16 days in this room, deteriorating in agony, without cancer pain management. Joelle and her mum Jane were told emergency chemo could not start until she was in the right ward and there was not a bed. She explicitly pleaded for a bed on either the male or female ward. Because she was trans they made her wait for a rare single room.

It is unsurvivable to delay treatment for 16 days with this rare but very well understood lymphoma. By the time she received emergency chemotherapy, it was already too late.

This shit is pure poison. A recipe for horrific burnout in later life. They say they want to improve support while also making it very obvious that said "support" is going to take the form of shame and punishment for not meeting standards designed around NTs. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...
The experts said too often diagnoses of mental health problems and ADHD and autism were ending up as labels that defined people by their "difficulties rather than their strengths and potential", harming their prospects at school, in work and in relationships.

Children diagnosed with autism and ADHD before the age of 17 are around four times more likely to end up not in education, employment or training between 16 and 24.

With better support after diagnosis, they could be helped to live more fulfilling lives, the review said.

"certain health professionals operating in accordance with the standards or code of ethics of their regulatory body to be excluded from the offence" Still doing this bullshit are we lxds? [pdf link] www.niassembly.gov.uk/globalassets...
Clause 1: Offence of providing conversion therapy

This clause makes it an offence to provide conversion therapy, with the intent of changing or suppressing sexual orientation or gender identity, and where the victim suffers harm. There is a defence of reasonable behaviour, but there is no defence that the victim
consented.

“Conversion therapy” is distinguished from “coercive conversion behaviour” in order to allow certain health professionals operating in accordance with the standards or code of ethics of their regulatory body to be excluded from the offence.

So this is an entirely predictable result of the UK's increasing hostility to trans people and has been going on for a while.

FtM transgender facing two different issues at work? England.

Brother in law is trans FtM and presents fully as a man. He’s now facing an impossible situation at work with his employer telling him that due to recent legislation he must use the toilet of his birth gender. BUT several female colleagues have raised a grievance about him using their gendered toilet.

His employer has told him that he cannot use the toilet while he is at work until they sort it out and cannot give him a timeframe to do so. They don’t have disabled separate toilets.

In the mean time one of his female colleagues has accused him of sexual harassment because he was used their gendered toilet. His menstrual cycle meant he needed to use the toilet.

He’s been with the employer for just over 5 years but only in this location for 18 months. The location is mainly male with just a handful of females, and his workshop only has male toilets.

I do not know how to support him and as he’s not in a union there is no one to turn too right now.

I am absolutely, 110% confident that the *adult woman* being discussed here has seen multiple psychiatrists and been repeatedly checked for proper understanding of the surgery and its consequences because that's what fucking happens with NHS trans surgery referrals.
Wallis said he had spoken to one woman who had been "worried sick about her child", and who said the gender service had not looked into any "of his comorbidities".

"They didn't take account of the fact that he was severely autistic, he didn't have a proper mental health assessment, and she knows her son, and she says that he needs proper care," Wallis said.

Would also point out that if you claim your belief meets point (2) here, it's not really within the realms of scientific investigation. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grainge...
1) The belief must be genuinely held.
2) It must be a belief and not an opinion or viewpoint based on the present state of information available.
3) It must be a belief as to a weighty and substantial aspect of human life and behaviour.
4) It must attain a certain level of cogency, seriousness, cohesion and importance.
5) It must be worthy of respect in a democratic society, be not incompatible with human dignity and not conflict with the fundamental rights of others.

Incidents like this, documented in TransActual's report, are becoming increasingly common as a direct result of the UK government flatly refusing to safeguard the rights of LGBTQ+ people. So no, WorldPride should not be in fucking London unless it's going to be a protest against this bullshit.
"I am disabled and used my radar key to get in. Right after this there were two ?males? outside yelling and trying to force the door open. I was already on the toilet. It was two days after the illegitimate 'supreme court' ruling by the way. The people kept shouting 'you freak' and 'what the fuck are you', 'you don't belong in there' 'are you a boy or a girl' etc. Disabled toilets so single unisex cubicle! I look like a cis male.

It made me feel scared, disgusted, angry. And I was in the toilets you told me to be in, you actual morons. I look exactly like a cis man, so I'd get beat up if I went into a women's toilet. Nothing usually happens in mens toilet. The problem is I'm disabled and really need a sink in the cubicle for getting clean, changing medical dressings etc."

The real irony here is we're seeing the inability of people who love serious director man's book adaptation to properly read and engage with a text. This is *literally the conclusion* of the review they're yelling about.
Despite all this, the release of The Odyssey is still an event to celebrate. In what we are told is the streaming era, this epic is bringing audiences back to cinemas. In what we are told is a time of declining literacy and the ‘death of the humanities’, translations of The Odyssey, including mine, are flying off the shelves. Some of those who buy the book or show up in cinemas to watch Tom Holland may go on to study ancient Greek. Perhaps the film will persuade a few college administrators not to cut their literature, language and history departments. Nolan, who studied English at University College London – where students still study The Odyssey as a first year ‘foundational text’ – is doing his best to get the general public reading again, and I am grateful.

Who has form for silencing women, exactly, Nick? www.ekathimerini.com/nytimes/1212...

Attached is a photo of a woman with tape over her mouthTHE NEW YORK TIMES
A British reporter had a big #MeToo scoop. Her editor killed ItInside The Financial Times newsroom this winter, one of its star investigative reporters, Madison Marriage, had a potentially explosive scoop involving another newspaper.

A prominent left-wing columnist, Nick Cohen, had resigned from Guardian News & Media, and Marriage had evidence that his departure followed years of unwanted sexual advances and groping of female journalists.

Marriage specialized in such investigations. She won an award for exposing a handsy black-tie event for Britain’s business elite. A technology mogul got indicted on rape charges after another article.

But her investigation on Cohen, which she hoped would begin a broader look at sexual misconduct in the British news media, was never published. The Financial Times’ editor, Roula Khalaf, killed it, according to interviews with a dozen Financial Times journalists.

Died of development sickness, but apparently we might actually get an Infect Your Friends And Loved Ones adaptation [running full pelt at the football, sure I'm going to kick it this time]. www.interviewmagazine.com/literature/c...
ELI: When it comes to film and TV, everyone is going to kill me if I don’t ask—are we getting a Detransition, Baby movie? A miniseries? Are you working on anything in that space?

PETERS: I think Detransition, Baby is dead as a television show. Somebody else might resurrect it, but it was just the vagaries of Hollywood. They fired all of the executives who had bought Detransition, Baby, which I’ve subsequently learned is just something that happens when a writer goes to Hollywood. Lilly Wachowski and I wrote a pilot for the first story in this book called Infect Your Friends And Loved Ones, which was about a contagion that causes everybody to stop being able to produce their own hormones. Everybody has to, essentially, choose their own gender the same way that trans people do. Everybody has to make an explicit choice that was previously a tacit choice, and that causes society to fall into conflict. It was super cool writing with Lilly. I’m somebody who writes in prose, so I don’t think about how every little detail will look. The whole opening scene ended up revolving around somebody losing their shoe and having to run without a shoe. That doesn’t work in prose. [But with screenwriting] you can anchor things around all these different images. She was just so cool to work with, and I hope it continues to move along and that she gets to direct it, because it will be so fucking cool.

I don't want to gloat, I don't want to say I told you so, I just want to be explicit that Jenny Racicot would never have had to relive this trauma in public against her will if liberal and leftist men weren't such a bunch of unserious misogynistic cunts.
Racicot previously described “reckless” and “unsettling” behavior by Platner to The New York Times, but says she didn’t go public with the specific assault claim because she didn’t want to be known as a rape victim.

Racicot said she later felt compelled to go public about her experience because the reaction to the Times story was dominated by controversy about another woman, Lyndsey Fifield, who alleged Platner mistreated her and faced attacks because of her ties to the Republican Party. (Contacted by POLITICO, Fifield stood by the allegations she made to the Times and declined to comment further.)

Here's a snippet from Terry Gilliam's Wikipedia page[1] and what one actress who worked with him has to say about him[2] Just. Saying. [1] en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Terry_G... [2] x.com/EllenBarkin/...
Reacting to a 2018 commentary of the controller of BBC comedy commissioning Shane Allen reflecting about the Monty Python troupe by saying "If you're going to assemble a team now it's not going to be six Oxbridge white blokes. It's going to be a diverse range of people who reflect the modern world"[77], Gilliam told during a press conference at the Karlovy Vary festival that the statement "made [him] cry: the idea that no longer six white Oxbridge men can make a comedy show. Now we need one of this, one of that, everybody represented... This is bullshit. I no longer want to be a white male, I don't want to be blamed for everything wrong in the world: I tell the world now I'm a black lesbian... My name is Loretta and I'm a BLT, a black lesbian in transition.", the name "Loretta" referencing a character played by Eric Idle in Monty Python's Life of Brian.

Gilliam expressed support[78] when a UK ex-police officer won a legal challenge regarding alleged transphobic tweets the officer made, viewing it as a defence of free speech: "I hope this court ruling will also apply to any non-hate, non-crime incidents I may have committed or not committed unknowingly.. or while in bed asleep. Freedom of Sleep Speech is a right we must all fight for as well!".[79]Tweet by Ellen Barkin (@EllenBarkin) from 17/3/2016

Peiple view trans women instrumentally; as a means to an end. They want to know what our use is and, well, LeGuinn said it best.
“Fourfoil, they call it.” Ogion had halted, the coppershod foot of his staff near the little weed, so Ged looked closely at the plant, and plucked a dry seedpod from it, and finally asked, since Ogion said nothing more, “What is its use, Master?”

“None I know of.”

Ged kept the seedpod a while as they went on, then tossed it away.

“When you know the fourfoil in all its seasons root and leaf and flower, by sight and scent and seed, then you may learn its true name, knowing its being: which is more than its use. What, after all, is the use of you? or of myself? Is Gont Mountain useful, or the Open Sea?” Ogion went on a half mile or so, and said at last, “To hear, one must be silent.”

Seriously this fucks me right off because the whole point of these screening programs that everybody is automatically invited to is that if you leave it up to individuals they often won't remember to book appointments regularly enough. This endangers trans people's lives.
What to do if you were assigned male at birth

If you've been taking feminising hormones for longer than 2 years, you can have breast screening. These hormones can increase your chance of getting breast cancer.

If you think you should have breast screening, but you are not invited automatically, talk to your GP surgery or call the local breast screening service to ask for an appointment.

This is what the NHS recommends. The "please ask your GP surgery for advice" is doing a lot of heavy lifting because what it actually mean is "We haven't bothered to make this work for you and we don't care." www.nhs.uk/tests-and-tr...

Who breast screening is for

NHS breast screening is offered to women aged 50 up to your 71st birthday. Everyone registered with a GP as female will be invited.
When you'll be invited

You'll automatically get your first invitation for breast screening between the ages of 50 and 53. You'll then be invited every 3 years until your 71st birthday.

If you’re transgender or non-binary and you would like to be invited for breast screening, ask your GP surgery for advice.

Oh Christ are we doing this one again? Serano said it best. juliaserano.medium.com/why-are-amab...
Imagine the following scenario: You’re talking with a cisgender gay acquaintance, and they start opening up about their past. They share an anecdote that begins, “Well, back when I was still in the closet . . .” and you immediately interrupt them by saying: “Don’t you mean back when you were enjoying heterosexual privilege?”

How do you think your acquaintance might react to that? They’d probably find your comment to be crass and dismissive, wouldn’t they? And it wouldn’t be because they doubt heterosexual privilege exists, but rather because this singularly focused framing erases the complex reality of what “being closeted” entails. For many of us, our closeted years are some of our most difficult — if not the most difficult. They tend to be times of secrecy: pretending to be “normal” and suppressing our true selves for fear of the stigma and ostracization we’d likely experience if we “came out.” Being in the closet is typically an isolating and traumatic period, during which we may be exposed to and internalize all sorts of queerphobic sentiments, often resulting in feelings of shame and self-loathing that may take us years to eventually overcome. In response to your comment, your cis gay friend would likely retort: “I wasn’t ‘enjoying’ heterosexual privilege. Going along with other people’s presumption that I must be straight was simply what I had to do in order to survive. And you couldn’t pay me enough to go back to that!”

While most of us would be inclined to side with the cis gay person’s perspective on this, many trans people — especially those of us who were assigned male at birth (AMAB) — find that we are denied the closet. Instead of garnering expressions of sympathy and understanding for that period of our lives, we are often mischaracterized as having “had it easy” during our pre-transition years, with some imagining that we must have been “basking” or “reveling” in “male privilege” all along the way.

Case in point, this is the former national secretary of SolFed talking about a trans woman in her early 20s he had a falling out with because she was uncompromising about sticking up for her (also transfem) partner after they were sexually harassed in an activist space.

"I've had extensive dealings with [redacted] too. She's a dangerous person, you're not the first person to suggest she might be a cop, but I think she's just very unhinged.

She's absolutely happy to use 'social justice' language to try and manipulate people who have good intentions. One of the only people I can think of who I would happily help the police arrest. If there's anything I can do to help, feel free to send a DM."

The context of this barely matters but I am boundlessly amused by "How dare you not immediately believe me! I am very middle class and so is my brother!"
Do you think a university lecturer posting under his government name is making it up? Or my brother who I deem honest enough to take as an authority on this and share it under my government name? And why? What am I getting out of this?
