Also, this game definitely deserves a sequel. Especially with how it does end on a cliffhanger of Eggman actually being a villain in a potential sequel.

I'm not gonna mention him because I feel like reducing this game to just "oh, it's the game HE sued SEGA over!" is both a disservice to the game, and also just letting a man who never had an original concept win over his hissy fit.

Despite everything going against it (the OST being MIDI hell, the attempt to make a 'unique' battle system, the fact that these writers who didn't work with Sonic, etc.,) the game still has its unique charm, and has a lot of fun plot elements I wish we could actually explore more.

I have, and all things considered, it feels bittersweet that this was my only DS Sonic game for a good while.

Like this is literally just THEE "scrimblo and blimbo" game Smash fans always made fun of with Banjo but lwk it has my favorite brand of humor and character designs. Even if I do think the fingers on Hoigle look weird.

It's weird just how quickly obsessed I've become with a failed Dreamcast game just because it has my favorite duo dynamics, a fun soundtrack, and a fairly fun premise with VA work that tickles my brain

Okay but speaking of the Floigan Brothers, I wanna see if the voice recordings Welker and Marsden did for the game are avaliable and isolated for specific reasons.

I want to be clear, for the record, that I am not accusing KVLTGAMES, or the associated dungeon synth artists, of using AI in the production of Dverghold. I got AI *vibes*, which I attempted to investigate, but was unable to determine one way or the other before I got sidetracked by the Nazi stuff.

Who are KVLTGAMES? Well, according to a German-only Wikipedia page... Nazis. Like literally neo-nazis who made a Turner Diaries simulator that got their previous publisher banned from Steam.

So this game called "Dverghold" came across my Steam homepage. Interesting retro vibes, apparently collabing with a dungeon synth artist for the OST. The art was kinda tickling my AI-dar though, so I scrolled down to look for any disclaimers.

I don't care about the 'morality' of it because maybe the creator should've thought of that when they made characters while actively doing the shit they did.

I got the clear to share this, but I'm one of the artists working on @g0osen.bsky.social's ASYM Sonic game coming soon, LifeBox! Here's the rendered artwork I put together for an upcoming casting announcement, so be sure to keep an eye out for it all!
