I wonder how much a PS4/Xone console would cost in 2026 if they started building new ones. Probably way too much.....

Yeah, it always is. Like trying to drink from a fire hose. I am sure it will all be understandable with a little time.

I enjoyed the Ramparts of Ice.

Hmm...I guess it is a unique form of a hidden object game. Basically you are a sniper finding objects and shooting at them. It is filled with simple humor and there are also challenges, item collection, cosmetics and mini-games.

I finished Sniper Dan. I spent 8.3 hours on it. It was a fun little game that can be played in shorter sessions. I recommend it!

The Switch version gives you access to controller support which the PC lacks. It is also has a built in cheat menu and enhanced graphics over the older console versions. The PC obviously has access to mods which is nice as well. But if you just want to play the game, Switch is the best place, IMO.

On the PC, you could easily fix your skills, stats and feats via a game editor. On the switch, you can fix your skills and feats but not your stats. On the other platforms, you are pretty much starting over which I get why you would not want to do.

Yes, other than an intro game in the beginning, I don't think you need to play pazaak at all in the first one. In the second game, there is a mission tied to pazaak.

Were you there? That sounds terrifying.

120

dalto @dalto2.bsky.social · 03/10/2026

It is definitely a product of it's time. It plays like a D20-based RPG from 23 years ago. Sorry you didn't enjoy it. Hopefully the remaster will make it more approachable for a modern audience.

dalto @dalto2.bsky.social · 03/10/2026

It is an old school RPG so you really need to pay attention to stat distribution and weapon choices. It is the type of game that if you try to be a master of all, you will end up horribly weak. If you specialize, you can easily destroy everything in your path.

dalto @dalto2.bsky.social · 03/10/2026

Pazaak is quite challenging in the first game. The improved the fairness a bit in the second game.

I haven't had as much dedicated time for gaming lately due to everything going on in my life. So I started playing sniper Dan when I have a free few minutes. It is quite an interesting little game so far. A unique twist on the hidden object genre.

I am playing through Black Flag Resynced right now. It would probably have been on this list if I wasn't already playing it. It is definitely a new spin on the same game/story. Syndicate is the last AC game before it switched to be an open world RPG.

Shadows of Mordor and Assassin's Creed Syndicate.

I am not sure what you mean. When I first played Dual Destinies, I spent the whole time thinking that game was good, but really needed VR to make it great.

Haha. I have this on CD too. I listened to this many times when I was young. This company, the Mind's Eye, put a bunch of these dramatizations for many different books. Unfortunately, outside of the Hobbit and the LOTR, most of them have been lost to time. I have searched for them for years.

Some great games coming to Switch 2 soon! Shadow of Mordor is one of my favorite games. Hopefully these are good ports.

Super curious to see how this port is.

Hmm...that is interesting, I didn't know that was set like that. It should be fixed now.

000

dalto @dalto2.bsky.social · 22/09/2026

Hopefully that is only for gamepass streaming because that would be a platform killer if they start doing that in the middle of games you purchased....

One of my favorite consoles of all time. That entire generation was amazing.

Eternal Darkness, Sanity's Requiem. That game messed with your mind while you were playing it.
