Tomorrow, the coolest part of the day is lab and we get to start on bilateria. And I am so hoping we start with lophotrochozoa, because apart from corals, these are my favorite fossils to find. And, I know that most cephalopods no longer have an outer shell, I just love that they did.

Took some time to do a colouring page for the @tinyteethart.bsky.social colouring contest for the Bedtime Bestiary Backer Kit release (www.backerkit.com/c/projects/m...). Colouring this in helped a lot I was feeling really unwell because of all the nightmares of late. Now back to my own work!

One thing that people may not know about me is that I collect plushies. Today is rearrange and display designing and development. I’ve redesigned three shelves so far (Care-a-lot and JellyCat alley), but my favourite so far is Stegosaurus Handling Bay, featuring BAB Pandora in her flight suit.

A wooden shelf housing 4 stegosaur plushies, and their handler Pandora. These stegs are special: my grail find Ty Steg buddy, Georgie (a gift from a friend and is green and white), Axle (the blue Squishable on top), and rounding out on the side is Ensign, a JellyCat Steg. What makes these ones special is that all but the Ty have the species significant tail spikes. Ensign only has two, but Axel and Georgie each have the requisite 4 tail spikes. Pandora is a brown and white bunny in a aviator flight suit.

It’s Nonbinary awareness week, and J just want to share my Pride Pin for the year (arrived today!). I have an affinity for Corvids (the neatest of Passeriformes, though I also love Apodiformes as well, but they’re a different order entirely).

Yeah. We can barely get Mr Cat to agree to see the vet when needed (he goes on Gabapentin for vet visits and still won’t cooperate), but I think if we try to show him what is happening, he’ll be more receptive to prodding. Today he’s an absolute cuddle bug.

It’s been a couple of days since I started the beak, but here is my attempt at a triceratops, I am trying to go more yellow, despite the recent studies into melanocytes. I think he’d be a happy yellow fellow!

Three! Three ravens (ah ah ah!!!). this one was a bit more of a tricky one to draw because of the pose and his position. Tomorrow I want to add one more raven to the bottom of the picture and start the variants. I want to have one with a deer in the distance, and the other one is the triceratops.

Update 6-8-2026, now with three ravens. One more raven to add on the lower ground area and then we move on to the add ins.

It’s taken me most of today to figure out the wing feathers. This looks so good, I’m surprised it’s coming out of my hand. I just need to figure out the lower wing and then shrink it a bit to give us some distance.

Part of an ongoing piece that I started last month. I don’t know how I plan on ending it, but it’s a WIP. I started work on a second Raven this evening, but not liking the proportions, so it’s not included. No anachronisms yet in this piece, but thinking of adding a variant with a lovely one.

This raven took three days and several restarts because the proportion didn’t look quite right. I still need to do some definitions on the wings, but other than that, I’ll start a new one when I can. I still have to leaf out the birch tree. Today I didn’t draw, but wrote instead.

A raven in an ongoing project. It is coming into land on the rock wall. The raven looks more blue/purple in this light than the usual black. At least 3 more ravens are going to be added to this piece, along with some more birch trees and a field as the background.

Attempting to add colour to the tree. Lots of green tones now, and it make sense for the blue shades in the tree, now that the leaves are giving shade. A lot of the way I’m applying the leaves is by just doing little scribbles of colour first then going back to refine.

I’ve managed to get further today on my piece than I have in a few days. Currently struggling with teeth for a skull, but that’s okay. I have to manoeuvre the skull into position and then add flames. And then wings, the scorpion tail… *deep breath*. It’s a slow go, but it is all hand drawn.

A work in progress, a manticore (just the lion form done atm) and a skull. The manticore is wearing a leather jacket with a brown wrist band on the left arm.

Today I began to entertain my brain with a different character. This is one of the divas of the high theatre, a manticore! This is supposed to be one of the playbill posters for the theatre. I’m working on their version of Shakespeare’s Hamlet. I’m currently working on the muzzle.

Here’s part of what my day entailed. I like how this shell turned out. It’s big for the character, but it is meant to be used as oversize. I am thinking of going over the black lines with a different colour, but for now it stays. I added texture with a simple mechanical pencil drawing tool.

Do I dare post Mr Cat today? Yes I dare. And yes, he’s also tongue out. He is just a fancy old man. And today you can see some of his rusted colours in his fur. He may look black, but if you put him in full bright light, he’s rusty.

The amount of fighting and hissing and snapping my cat was doing you think I was trying to hurt him. I had to give him his old age pain meds… it was a needle, but I had to tell him, the more you move and fight, the more times I have to poke, which seemed to register and he softened to let me do it.

Today’s walk was the worst so far this winter. As you can see, there is a tremendous amount of drifting and filling in of sidewalks. We had to walk on the berm and had to use plowed parking lots to have areas that were flat enough to traverse. This city worries too much about cars….

Y’all, I want you to stop doomscrolling and check out this handsome old man. He’s going to be 15 this year! He is pretty fantastic. He’s incredibly talkative, including his tail, he gives the best hugs, and purrs like an old Ford truck these days. Oh, and the yellow thing is his harness for walks.

A first glimpse at a character concept piece of my latest character design. They are a fae, small, a leprechaun. Their name is Shelby, and they’re wearing a shark eye shell on their head. They have incredible strength, they chatter non-stop and are considered my main’s “best friend ever”.
