If you'd like any recommendations let me know 👀 Personally I prefer my tea sourced from Uji since that's what my school has always reccomended but production from Yame is on the rise right now as people are preferring the more nutty tasting Kyushu varieties. Can't go wrong with Shizuoka either!

In my experience I would approach with caution. "ceremonial grade" is an American exclusive buzz word and is usually still mid quality matcha that's incredibly marked up. They don't use that term in Japan and we definitely do not use that kind of grading system in tea ceremonies.

That's super lucky you found one that fits! Its super hard for me to find anything that isn't a modern produced patternless one that's in my size. I've been trying to find more vibrant stage kimono since most of what I have is more traditional and toned down for tea ceremonies.

Not this year, but next year at AqF since the rooms have kitchens, I'd like to host a party where I cook and serve osechi style bento boxes! I've been spending all evening pickling lotus root, twisting konjac, starring shiitake and it's really got me wanting to try it out!

As a practitioner of Zen I'll admit I don't do sitting meditation much at all really. I think a lot of people don't realize that most meditation like practices for us (the lay people and non monks), is a lot of walking meditation as well as meditation through daily tasks.
