Not this year, but next year at AqF since the rooms have kitchens, I'd like to host a party where I cook and serve osechi style bento boxes! I've been spending all evening pickling lotus root, twisting konjac, starring shiitake and it's really got me wanting to try it out!

As a practitioner of Zen I'll admit I don't do sitting meditation much at all really. I think a lot of people don't realize that most meditation like practices for us (the lay people and non monks), is a lot of walking meditation as well as meditation through daily tasks.

To me, Valentine's Day was never about dates, romance, ect. I'm aromantic so that isn't much in the cards for me anyway. Instead I've taken the holiday to mean a celebration of indulgence and hedonistic fun... Happy Valentine's Day! Single or not there's always room to join me~

Kagami mochi (mirror mochi) is often dressed up in the tokonoma of the tea room during the first yea of the new year. It is literally two gigantic pieces of mochi stacked on top of one another. The fun part is afterwards we cut it up in the kitchen and use it for oshiruko
