Turns out I'm not done talking about AI trying to do administrative work. One of the problems with "AI can do calendaring!" is that it assumes that people keep their calendars in a logical, machine-parsable manner. I have access to a dozen calendars, and no two are organized the same...

An underdiscussed part of the "AI can replace administrative assistants!" dumbness is that a big part of being a good EA is knowing, reacting to, and keeping your mouth shut about things you are not officially supposed to know. I don't think that would work well with an AI!

Someone above me on the org chart likes to write & send emails to the department without running them by anyone, which gives me a heart attack every time, but his sometimes awkward phrasing makes it clear that he's actually writing them himself & not using the AI, which is kind of endearing.

I'm trying to figure out why my hair is thinning (the answer seems to be "life"), but I was nonetheless unreasonably pleased that all of my blood tests came back in the 'ok' range. I am getting a good grade in embodiment, something that is both normal to want and possible to achieve.

I just got back to work after a week serving on a jury and out of the blue I got a message from one of my scientists that said, among other very kind things, "You bring so much thoughtfulness and fresh perspective to the department."
