Gu Yun had lately been plagued with a series of strange dreams. He dreamed of a neat row of monks reciting Buddhist scripture at him, their bald heads gleaming as they swayed in unison and chanted “Amitabha Buddha” through the night, leaving him dizzy when he woke up the next morning.
