Fish Facts Occasionally @dailyfishfacts.bsky.social · 19/02/2026I forgot to include a picture! look how silly they are :D I learned while researching this that their electroplaques are being used in various studies of neuroscience due to how well the organic tissue tranmits and stores electricity! 052

Fish Facts Occasionally @dailyfishfacts.bsky.social · 24/12/2025Slight mistake here! They are *sedentary*, not sessile! Sessile organisms, such as sponges, are entirely incapable of movement, whereas sedentary species are able to move, though they just spend the majority of their lives stationary. 120
Fish Facts Occasionally @dailyfishfacts.bsky.social · 24/12/2025Merry Christmas to; Spirobranchus giganteus, the Christmas tree worm! Also known as Suckermouth Catfish, plecos are incredibly common in the aquarium trade, often being purchased to clean the bottom & glass of the tanks. Fish Facts Occasionally @dailyfishfacts.bsky.social · 30/10/2025Fish(ing) fun fact! If you're ever out at sea doing some catching, try and cast out near shrimp boats! Even in docks & marinas, giant fish congregate around shrimp bates due to the sheer amount of shrimp / bycatch that typically show up there. They might as well try for a free meal, yknow? 120

Fish Facts Occasionally @dailyfishfacts.bsky.social · 27/10/2025the reason this is the final and only mating season is because they stop feeding during this time. After the season ends, they will run out of energy as their bodies slowly wither away. good parents, huh? 152
Fish Facts Occasionally @dailyfishfacts.bsky.social · 27/10/2025Today's aquatic friend is: Oncorhynchus nerka, the Sockeye salmon! Discovered off the west coast of the US, the ship was housing 5 young barred knifejaws. 4 of which were euthanized to prevent invasive species [1/2] 130
