Millennials bucking the trend even more in the UK than US. And this from the FT of all places! Alt text for more analysis.
A graph showing the political movement of different generations as they age: the Silent generation (those born 1928-1945), Boomers (1946-1964), Gen X (1965- 1980), and Millennials (1981-1996, aka Gen Y).

In both the US and UK, the Silent, Boomer and Gen X generations, are shown to move towards more right-wing, conservative political support as they age.

However, in both countries, Millennials are moving in the opposite direction, starting (as all generations do) with progressive values when they reach voting age, but instead moving towards more left-wing, progressive political support as they age.

There are many theories for this clear departure from what was normal before: - a more interconnected world with greater choice about news sources,
- more frequent nexus events for political shifts such as 9/11, 7/7, Israel-Gaza, the Second Gulf War,
- the 2008 financial crisis, and ensuing austerity, increasing wealth disparity,
- loss of access to adequate housing, jobs, and basic necessities,
- the COVID-19 pandemic,
- vast improvements in the average educational standards and attainment compared with the previous generations,
- lately, the rise and threat of AI in the job market,
- the rise in normalisation and support for equal rights for previously discriminated against groups, such as women, non-whites, LGBTQ+ communities,
- the lies around the effects of capitalist "trickle-down economics" which has prevailed in both countries for nearly 50 years,
- disenchantment with establishment figures as their incompetence have become more openly known: Clinton's affairs, Bush Jr's war on terror, Blair's WMD's in Iraq, Cameron's harsh austerity on the poorest, Trump's myriad lies, Johnson's & Farage's failures and lies around Brexit, Starmer's countless broken manifesto promises and U-turns,

Is it any wonder that a better-educated, more informed, socially-aware generation with experience of many global crises before the age of 40, want the system to change dramatically?

It's a head scratcher on these stats. But I'd take it any day. #askwxm

To think we could be on 13 points but for one clumsy foul against Cardiff, one player's crap day in defence against Brum, and some better finishing all round. The Championship table tonight, appropriately redacted. #askwxm #wxmafc

4. Leyton Orient's badge was designed and used from, err... 1976: 3 years after Wrexham's current badge design was used. 5. This is embarrassing for them, because it's more likely they copied ours. 6. Old Orient club badges show a white dragon 🤷🏼 Oops. (See alt texts) 3/3 #afcwxm #wxmafc
Leyton Orient's current badge, designed in 1976, 3 years after Wrexham's was redesigned to include dragons with a football.
The first season after the redesigns when the teams met in the Second tier in 1978, Wrexham won both games.
Probably best not to throw stones in glass houses. Instead of piggybacking of Wrexham's publicity, Orient should try making some of your own on the pitch.Old club badges show that Leyton Orient's emblem is a dragon (so not a wyvern), and look suspiciously like the dragon on a certain flag you tend to see to the west of Wrexham.

It's pretty clear who copied who.

Better luck next time, lads. Good luck with the rest of the season.

3. Wrexham's third kit badge appears on our current badge. The dragons with a football is not new. It has been used since 1973. (See alt texts) 2/3 #askwxm #wxmafc @askwxm.bsky.social @wrexhamafc.co.uk
Wrexham's badge. Designed and used from 1973. The red dragons playing with a football are clear in the bottom half of the badge.Wrexham's third kit badge. The dragons playing football are now on their own without any other part of the badge. Leyton Orient believe Wrexham have copied their badge, but....

You do. 10% of all energy generation in the US is by wind power. About 25% of Texas energy generation is wind power. "Where you see windmills, you see a failing country." Check alt texts on images below.
Map of the US showing the locations of all wind farms.
The farms are largely in the central states including Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Iowa, Illinois and Indiana, with smaller numbers in Colorado, Wyoming, Washington, Oregon, Montana, Nebraska, both Dakotas, Minnesota, and Michigan.A map of the counties of the US showing which way each county voted in the 2024 election.
The correlation between the previous image showing where the wind farms are in the US, and whether those areas voted for Trump, is very high.

The areas with the highest density of wind farms, mostly voted for Trump.

By saying "where you see windmills, you see a failing country," Trump is directly insulting not just his own country, but his own voters.

This is how stupid he really is.

How long does an idea need to be out there for its reversal to be considered a U-turn?

Weaponising fiscal drag is easily the stupidest idea put forward for this budget. It's a guaranteed vote loser when people on or around £40-£50k all of a sudden are paying even more tax. Tax wealth and assets. Raise capital gains. Tax billionaires and millionaires. Tax banking bonuses.

"STOP MENTIONING ENOCH POWELL!" If you need to clarify you don't think you sound like Enoch Powell, you probably did in fact sound like Enoch Powell. The UK Government everyone. These are supposed to be the competent ones.
