Corn soup. and don't @ me with how I just haven't had it made well. It's the hominy I can't stand. This isn't an Anishinaabe dish, but since I live in Niagara and this soup is basically everywhere it counts.
A bowl seen from above. Corn soup with shredded ham, potatoes, kidney beans, and hominy.

Trying something for paid subscribers. every week or so I'll brain dump about a tarot spread, what story the cards are telling me. Paid subscribers can send in questions and I'll see what story the cards tell about it. Not a tarot reading, more like a writing prompt. subscribe at thousandworlds.ca

When liberation theology emerged from Catholic priests in Latin America, the US government encouraged churches to send missionaries to counter what they saw as communism from the Catholic Church. I grew up reading about the courage of men like Nate Saint and Jim Elliot, not Romero.
A church that doesn't provoke any crises, a gospel that does not unsettle, a word of God that does not get under anyone's skin, a word of God that does not touch the real sin of society in which it is being proclaimed - what gospel is that? Saint Oscar Romero, April 16, 1978

Gordon is getting tired of waking up to this bullshit. He had been dreaming of a world without borders and the cops who police them. Probably because he fell asleep listening to his human read Border & Rule. You can get a free ebook from @haymarketbooks.org right now along with some others.

As I was saying.
Hitler's first significant act of territorial aggression was the annexation of Austria in March of 1938. This violated the Treaty of Versailles and the Treaty of Saint-Germain. No one intervened. This emboldened Hitler to pursue further expansionist policies. This is not a post about Hitler.

Post from katcentricenigma. Unsure of the platform.

When I convened the panels for a podcast series about books, we had little inkling of the storm to come. The current storm is one in a long history of US attacks on dissent through regulation of free speech, which includes your right to hear and read. Can't think of a better time to publish this.

Just minding my own business reading Of Living Stone, a collection of essays about the work of Vine Deloria Jr., vibing along with an essay by Gabriel S. Galanda on Indigenous Kinship Renewal and Relational Sovereignty, and what do I see here? Heck.
Billy Grand Jr often said, we don't throw our people away. The pervasive practice of discarding Indigenous kinfolk must end. As Patty Krawec teaches in Becoming Kin, there is an opportunity for Indigenous people to listen "to the stories and to the harm ... to old relationships and memory ... to how things should be" and to make new offerings and agreements that honor "our place in creation and our responsibilities to each other. "
