Honestly I've been MIA in local game dev stuff since the pandemic and in recent years my relationship w/ game dev went from a core part of my identity to 'this is just my job' @indiecitygames.org threw one hell of an event with CIGS and it reminded me why I started doing it all in the first place.

Years ago I was at the space museum in White Sands, NM, gazing up at a Saturn V rocket engine. Another visitor next to me turned out to be an engineer from JPL. He explained they were studying old rockets to try to reverse engineer how they actually worked. Because the blueprints had been lost.

Genuinely, this concern about AI is one of the reasons why I think having friction in video games is good and why it's increasingly important to have games that simply exist instead of catering to our expectations. Reposting this message from Kojima about "pre-digested" art:

I just felt like the way businesses were laid out and buildings in general felt like I was walking in some parts of the boroughs. With less verticality but still a decent amount of brick! This could be entirely perception vs reality but it felt distinct compared to Chicago, but it was also flat 😅
