#running in September felt nicer thanks to slightly lower temperatures and my body adjusting to longer distances. 17/17 scheduled runs completed. 132k / 82.5 mi. in total and only one new (blood) blister. 🏃‍♀️ Adding some friends from one of the pre-work runs (which I usually don't post here).

This is why you need #testers when you write software 🤦‍♀️ My health insurance gives me 20 euros for new #running shoes if I run 10k / 90 minutes per week for 8 in 10 weeks. I have more than met both goals, yet the app says “didn’t make it ✅” 🤦‍♀️ Probably, because the week isn’t over yet. 😂 #coding
Picture of a health insurance app (as screenshots are forbidden) showing two progress bars that are completed and have green checkmarks. “100/100%” and a bold “Nicht geschafft” (didn’t make it/didn’t meet the goal) with its own checkmark beside it.

I ran 311 out of 90 minutes and 35.57 out of 10 kilometers.

Got my new Apple Watch yesterday and already ran with it today. Also today, Garmin support finally got back to me (took them five days) and gave me a cryptic hint to try a different payment method even though I could see that the original payment had gone through. Thanks, but no thanks. 😅

12k(7.5 mi) today. Up and down those stairs again, but without some of the detours on the way there. Fairly proud of myself that I memorized the entire route yesterday! Wore my bouncy shoes, which made my feet happy. First week of #running for 5 hours in total! They're building a running track! 👀

13.5k (8.4 mi.) instead of the planned 10k thanks to several road blocks. Lovely morning light, the pictures don't really do it any justice. Two other runners, two hellos! No dog walkers for the first 12k. 129 m (423 ft) elevation gain, almost half of which thanks to these stairs. 😱 #running
Long stairway down a hill in morning light. The steps are gravel and too flat and wide to be comfortable.Low morning sun over a field that was fallow over the summer. The wildflowers and weeds in the field are dry now and have irregular shapes.Very green small artificial hills with a mountainbike trail on top of a hill. Cloudy sky above.

I thought about switching to Garmin for #50kOrNay as the battery on my Apple Watch is giving out. I tried to order a Garmin only to have the order cancelled. Customer support didn't respond. I guess I'll stick with Apple, then. 😬

The women in my parents' generation (70+ years old) are convinced that #running is unhealthy. They know better than to tell me that I should stop. Instead, they say things like: "You know, fast walking is supposed to be very healthy! Fast walking!" or "But what will you do in winter? 🥶😱" 😂 😂 😂

#50kOrNay lesson of the week: Tissues belong in something that's waterproof during long runs. My running belt happens to be waterproof - the mesh pocket on my trail vest ... obviously isn't. 😆 #running

Based on this evidence, how many runners would you expect in this household? One of the roofers asked my husband whether he's also a runner. "Nope, just my wife." "But, these are men's shoes!!!" (They aren't and even if they were ... 🤷‍♀️) Apparently female runners must buy more colorful shoes! 🤣

17k (10.6 mi.) in 2:50 hours. 270m / 886 ft elevation gain. Got overtaken by a speed walker who didn't return my greeting, but she smiled at my nod when we met again later. Seems like I'm past the 16k / 10 mi. barrier, despite an offended foot (see 2/2). 🎉 #running

Did another accidental progression run today. Had to slow down a bit around 4k, because my right lung felt weird again, but I could pick up the pace again afterward. Hit my max observed heart rate of 194 BPM again. Sounds like the actual maximum might be even higher. 🤔 #running

I found a new #running goal (apart from the sub-30 5k): I'm curious to see if I can do a 50k trail run. Here's the new hashtag to mute if you don't want to be spammed: #50kOrNay I plan on spending lots of time with the beastly hill, but I'm walking up the long steep hills now—like ultra runners.😉

After giving my body a bit of a break by slightly cutting the weekly mileage for two weeks, I went back to 16k (a few steps short of 10 miles) today. 2:17 hours, 218m (715 ft.) elevation gain. Saw few humans, but a deer, pheasants, herons, cute cows, and an eagle! 🦅 #running

Does anyone know how to get dirt (smaller than grains of sand) out of shallow cuts/scratches/grazes? By the time I got home, things were already dry. I’ve tried washing (could try soaking later) and have put plenty of ointment for dirty wounds under plasters for now. (The internet wasn’t helpful.)

Missed a root and took quite the tumble in the forest today. I must have rolled around in the dirt given how dirty I got, but it seems like I fell well as I have no bruises (yet), only scratches. I ended up in Sphinx Pose. 😆 Ran another 3k after that without any further incidents. #running

#running in August was similarly all about distance (like July; thanks to still ongoing construction works 😭). 15/15 scheduled runs completed, plus 3 bonus runs while traveling. 138k / 86 mi. in total, so the second three-digit month in a row. 18k as the longest distance yet (up from 14k). 🏃‍♀️

Ran 18k (11.25 miles) today, which took me 2 hours and 39 minutes. The final two kilometers weren’t all that pleasant as several joints started to whine a little. One minor dog incident, saw several herons standing around in meadows for some reason, and an abandoned railway bridge. #running

Put myself through my paces yesterday (as you might a horse - just for the fun of it) and was rewarded with a colorful heart rate graph. The first km was a bit too fast, but it was slightly chilly, too. #running
A colorful heart rate graph starting with a good kilometer in zone 1 and then going up until zone 5 in the end. The post-workout heart rate dropped nicely from 191 BPM to 154 BPM after one minute and 138 BPM after two minutes while I was walking.5k splits (pace per kilometer) of 8’49”, 8’41”, 7’49”, 6’53”, and 5’46”.

The scaffolding came down today. One of the workers helped himself to some plums and one of the few apples on our young tree, while my husband was right there with them. To his co-worker: “Want some?” Co-worker: “No thanks, I’m no good at stealing.” “No problem, I can do it for you.” 🤦‍♀️

13k today, got so very lost that I had to ask my phone for the way back. 😆 Loved the horses, got a wave from another runner wearing a vest (this kind seems to be friendlier than the faster ones without) and finally made it to the "just there" bridge. Built decades ago and utterly useless. #running

I don’t need to run-walk, because I can run slower than I walk*. 😎 Whatever I’m doing, it seems to work: My recovery pace is one minute faster now than 10 months ago. 🎉 #running * I’m being silly, I started out run-walking as well. I can very much recommend it.

We saw a heat-stressed magpie land on our lawn yesterday, looking confused. It was looking for the bird baths that used to be there more than a year ago! Fortunately, it looked around a bit and found them in their new spot! Today, several magpies flew directly to the water. 🪶 #corvids
