SAME it was the biggest art motivator for me to gift people stuff!! but now that deviantart is basically gone, i feel like i more often than not see people who suddenly dont like to get giftart at all / thinks its weird?? so i dont really dare, even tho i wanna so bad :') I MISS IT, IT WAS SO FUN

i used to get mocked A LOT for my anatomy not being perfect, and my art being too simple and plain, by people close to me in the past, and its still messing with me a lot to this day :') trying new stuff wasnt approved of either, if it wasnt good in their eyes, so its a battle to keep trying now 🫠

Btw remember canon doesn’t mean you can’t do what you want. That’s in your hands. What I appreciate is letting us tell our story our way, you can always have it yours. But never use fiction to justify real harassment. People can be disappointed, it doesn’t justify bullying over cartoons.

I think the biggest damage to the art community was the obsolescence of gallery sites (y!, deviantart, etc) and the rise of scroll-by social media, like twitter and even tumblr. Art is not ''content'', you shouldnt need to post art every day (or every month!) to be relevant. This mindset sucks.
