I've been playing around with #povray again. This is a very unfinished render; I've only just started on this tree. I'm hoping to bring in that little fighter ship I posted earlier in the year, and stick a cityscape behind it with a bunch of these trees.

A very rudimentary looking tree with conical magenta trunk and branches, and spherical cyan foliage, standing on a plain grey ground. In the distance are dark magenta mountains, and above are wispy magenta clouds. A large cyan planet rises over the horizon, and a dark red sky is filled with stars.

I was given this version of the game before I started enthusing about it online. Lovely big hardback book. Although for actual play I'll always love the original 1977 Little Black Books best. I've been pondering some solo play till I have time to find and join a proper game with real people.

Master of Orion, 1993 MSDOS game from my favorite era of PC gaming. I love the 2d pixel art in 320x240 much more than the early, awkward 3d era that followed a few years later. Just got the box in the mail today. The disks unfortunately no longer work.

IBM thought they'd sell 200,000 of their Australasian-targeted JX computers. They made 40,000, and only sold 25,000; they wound up giving away 15,000 units to employees rather than admit having to destroy the overstock.

A three-piece desktop computer. Up top is a black CRT, with a single red power button. The pizzabox style case features two 3.25" drives, a recessed red power switch, and an unlabeled future expansion port. The front of the case seems to slide off entirely, which would allow the top to hinge up and off, like their competitor Apple. The keyboard, itself, is black in the familiar IBM layout, with one addition: a raised ridge, where a student might rest a pencil.
