Getting ready for Starship test flight #13 - the main thing they want to fix on this flight is the Raptor v3 reliability with failures on both stages last time. SpaceX has to be responsible and can't send Starship to orbit until it can be 100% sure it can bring it back in a controlled manner.

if you hold starship to the same standard as every other rocket - where they deploy the payload and then destroy themselves - then almost all of their flight tests have been a success. Going up is the easy part [for SpaceX], bringing all parts of a massive ship back intact is bleeding edge tech.

if all the engines on booster had relit, this would have been a completely successful flight test overall. I doubt they will attempt a booster catch with V3 until they have done a perfect water landing with it first

this was a sub-orbital flight test, so ofc the sats were not launched into full orbit. Until they prove in-space relight capability - ie. the ability to deorbit - they can't do a full orbital test. They said all along the sats would be pulled into earth's atmosphere after running some quick tests

They know how to land a booster - they did it VERY early on in the test program. I suspect their current focus for booster is on tightening up margins, simplifying, weight reduction, pushing performance goals, etc. The big news here is a 100% FLAWLESS flight of the upper-stage ship.
