I've started coding, and this is why I shouldn't design professionally, haha, I always change it in development

Are we still arguing over two- vs tri-state color mode toggles? Let's actually talk about the important stuff; like animating the shit out of the toggle! (only for those who don't prefer reduced motion of course)

Kids love books, right? RIGHT? I’m trying to become my best friend’s kids favorite honorary aunt by writing and illustrating a children’s book

Two illustrated children’s books titled De kikker en de ooievaar (“The Frog and the Stork”) lie side by side on a dark surface. Both covers feature a watercolor-style frog wearing a blue jacket and red bow tie, standing beside a calm marsh with tall grasses.

An open children’s picture book on a wooden table. On the left page, a grumpy green frog sits on a lily pad in a watercolor marsh surrounded by tall grasses and cattails. The facing page contains Dutch rhyming text: “Once a frog sat on a leaf, but he was not happy. ‘I sit here all day on my arse, and I’m getting so tired of it!’”

Started working on my demo for Fronteers Dark Mode, this is built with CSS scroll-driven animations, no JS 💅 My talk will go into detail on where you can replace JS with CSS! Tickets are still available: fronteersconf.org This cool effect is inspired by @thomasaufresne.com → bennettandclive.com

I might have gotten carried away with Figma animations for my portfolio explorations. 1/10 would not recommend

More (rough) explorations

Side-by-side website mockups showing two pages of the same personal portfolio website. The left mockup is the homepage, featuring a bold newspaper-inspired masthead, a large introductory headline, a prominent photo of the developer speaking on stage, and a grid of featured projects with collage-style imagery and editorial typography. The right mockup is a project detail page, highlighting "The Fish Doorbell" with a large hero image, project description, metadata, related articles, and supporting visuals. Both pages use oversized black typography, light backgrounds, purple geometric accents, hand-drawn illustrations, and cutout photography to create a playful editorial aesthetic.

Since a couple of months i've noticed a quick flash that's visible juuust before a view transition starts playing and I can't get rid of it 🫠. Did I just not notice before or is this a new thing? Anyone know a fix? 😅

Little expert tip for when you want to copy someone’s website💅

Screenshot of email:

Hello David,

It has come to my attention that you have copied my website, I’ll be filing a copyright infringement claim with Vercel, your website host. I advise you take it down yourself.

Next time you copy a website you might want to remove the GA tag ;) Or just, you know, design and build your own…

I love using new CSS features in my WIP portfolio: so far I've implemented scroll driven animations, anchor positioning, sibling-index/-count, view transitions, at-starting-style, container style queries, interpolate size, allow discrete and more! CSS is awesome ✨ The sticker drag is GSAP though;)

WIP Page transition ✨ Most off the animations are pure CSS, I just needed some JS for the mouse move effect 🤷🏻‍♀️ Made with Scroll Driven Animations and View Transitions 💅
