Too impatient to wait for a safe pass. Plenty of road, but the driver still squeezes past a cyclist on a dual-lane road.

Overtakes one group of cyclists, straight into another. A completely unnecessary risk that could’ve ended very differently.

Another driver ignoring the bike lane and putting cyclists in danger. It’s there for a reason. Give cyclists space.

This was way too close. Totally unnecessary.

Straight across the bike lane. No give way. No warning. Just another close call that was completely avoidable.

If you're going to drive around in a company branded car, make sure you follow all of the road rules and drive responsibly, otherwise you will end up caught on camera.

Cycling infrastructure is only useful if all road users respect them. You can't park in a bike lane and then complain cyclists ride on the road...

You wouldn't pull out in front of a car, why pull out in front of a cyclist?

cycliq.bsky.social @cycliq.bsky.social · 26/09/2026
Apparently delivering the mail is more important than checking for cyclists. Delivery van pulls straight out in front of a cyclist, leaving no time to react. A quick look before pulling out could’ve avoided another close call.

Plenty of road, but the truck still chose to pass a group of cyclists far too closely. A dual-lane road gives you options.

Roundabout rules apparently don’t apply when you’re in a hurry. Driver cuts across cyclists already circulating, leaving barely any room to react.

Riding in the bike lane and still nearly getting taken out by a car turning across it. You can do everything right as a cyclist and still have someone drive straight across your path without looking.

Another driver re-enforcing the Ranger Danger stereotype...

cycliq.bsky.social @cycliq.bsky.social · 20/09/2026
Passing distance rules exist because cyclists have zero protection if something goes wrong. No metal frame, no airbags, just road and a few inches of clearance some drivers won't even give them. It's not a courtesy. It's not optional. It's the law, and it's there because it saves lives.

cycliq.bsky.social @cycliq.bsky.social · 19/09/2026
Your logo's on the van. Your driving's on camera. That branding isn't just advertising. It's accountability rolling down the street. Drive like your business depends on it. Because it might.

cycliq.bsky.social @cycliq.bsky.social · 17/09/2026
"Cyclists are the problem," they say. Then this happens. Trucks and cars sprawled across the road and the bike lane, and somehow the rider weaving through it all is the one getting blamed. Riders don't want to be in your lane. They're forced into it every time their own space gets taken away.

cycliq.bsky.social @cycliq.bsky.social · 17/09/2026
Cutting across a cyclist's path isn't a "quick turn". It's a split-second decision that takes their safety out of their own hands.
010
cycliq.bsky.social @cycliq.bsky.social · 16/09/2026
Impatience on the road doesn't just put the driver at risk, it puts everyone in the equation in danger. A truck swinging wide to pass a cyclist, only to find itself head-on with oncoming traffic, is a decision made in seconds that can cost a lot more than the few seconds it saved.

cycliq.bsky.social @cycliq.bsky.social · 15/09/2026
Green light for the cyclist. Red light for you. It's not a suggestion. It's not a near miss because the cyclist did something wrong. It's a near miss because someone decided a red light was optional.

Parkig in the bike lane is bad enough. Pulling out without care? That's how cyclists get hurt.

There’s no excuse for putting a vulnerable road user at risk like this. Give cyclists space, slow down and pass safely.
000
cycliq.bsky.social @cycliq.bsky.social · 05/09/2026
Stopping at the sign means nothing if you’re just going to pull out anyway. If another road user has right of way, you need to actually give way not stop, look, and then decide to go for it. A stop isn’t a courtesy. It’s a responsibility.

These videos were all captured throughout August and represent just a fraction of the incidents reported to UpRide. Each clip shows situations where cyclists were placed in unnecessary danger due to driver behaviour, whether through impatience, lack of awareness, or poor decision-making.

When your vehicle is that wide, it’s your responsibility to be aware of oncoming traffic and make sure there’s enough room to pass safely.

BMW driver thinks they can do whatever they want and tries to overtake a cyclist through a tight roundabout. There’s a time and place to overtake, and a tight roundabout definitely isn’t one of them.

Bike lanes aren’t extra road space for cars and vans. They’re there for cyclists. Stay out of the bike lane and give cyclists the space they’re entitled to.
000
cycliq.bsky.social @cycliq.bsky.social · 31/08/2026
The driver stops at the give-way sign… then decides to go anyway, trying to beat a cyclist who has right of way. Stopping means nothing if you’re not actually giving way.
000
cycliq.bsky.social @cycliq.bsky.social · 30/08/2026
Roundabouts aren’t a free for all. Check your surroundings, give way when required, and make sure it’s safe before entering.
000
cycliq.bsky.social @cycliq.bsky.social · 30/08/2026
Crazy that some drivers think overtaking a cyclist is worth risking a head-on collision with another car. All for the sake of saving a few seconds. If there isn’t enough room to overtake safely, wait. No journey is worth gambling with someone’s life.

cycliq.bsky.social @cycliq.bsky.social · 29/08/2026
POV: You’re cycling along the path when a pedestrian wearing noise-cancelling headphones walks straight into your path. Noise-cancelling headphones are great, but situational awareness still matters when sharing a path.
000
cycliq.bsky.social @cycliq.bsky.social · 27/08/2026
Even with traffic lights clearly telling drivers what they are allowed to do, some still seem to think the rules don’t apply to them.

cycliq.bsky.social @cycliq.bsky.social · 27/08/2026
Wait 2 seconds or jeopardise a cyclist safety? That should not even be a thought.
000
cycliq.bsky.social @cycliq.bsky.social · 26/08/2026
There’s an additional overtaking lane on this road, yet this driver still felt the need to intimidate the cyclist and squeeze past dangerously close. There was plenty of road available to make a safe pass. Using it shouldn’t be optional when someone’s safety is at stake.
000
cycliq.bsky.social @cycliq.bsky.social · 24/08/2026
Instead of simply staying behind, the driver squeezes past in a dangerous spot without leaving the minimum passing distance. There was no need to overtake.
000
cycliq.bsky.social @cycliq.bsky.social · 23/08/2026
You’re riding on the bike path and cars are supposed to give way to you… but apparently that doesn’t apply today. A give-way sign isn’t optional. If we all drive around and ignore the rules and the law, it's a slippery slope for humanity.

The bike lane is there for a reason. This driver crossed the solid line of the bike lane when they were required to give way before merging. Cyclists shouldn’t have to anticipate cars cutting across their lane.
010
cycliq.bsky.social @cycliq.bsky.social · 20/08/2026
When you’re driving a car, you’re in control of how that car is driven. “I didn’t see the cyclist” is not an excuse. Drivers have a responsibility to look, anticipate, and make sure the road ahead is clear before proceeding. Cyclists shouldn’t have to pay the price for a driver’s lack of awareness.

This van driver continued at full speed despite the reduced space, nearly squeezing the cyclist into the parked cars. A little patience and consideration could have prevented a dangerous situation.
