I get you are a tow truck. But, NO you cannot just throw your lights (hazard lights) on in a bike lane to have your ☕ break. Tim Hortons has a 🅿️ lot for this. Blocking a bike lane while you enjoy your coffee or check text messages puts vulnerable road users at risk of serious injury or death.

It seems every damn day there are crashes involving vulnerable road users. If the driver stays under no circumstance listen to them about calling police and emergency services. If you are not sure what to do in the event of a crash our pal @thebikinglawyer.bsky.social has a resource page.

A few more details. The cyclist was a 49 year old male. He did not have any lights on his bike. This was not an "unfortunate accident" this was the "result" of a few contributing factors. First very poor road lighting and second the person on a bike not having lights on their bicycle.

I'm learning to change the conversation I have with myself. For my 60th birthday in October, I want to WALK 6 km. Not just for the distance, but to improve my mobility, fitness, and give myself more choices for getting around. Thursday, I unexpectedly had to walk without my cane.

What is wrong in these pictures? We have a private contractor doing work for a business using public infrastructure (bike lanes and sidewalk) putting vulnerable road users at risk of serious injury or death. I will give the contractor kudos for at least having a flag person on one part of the trip.

1/ Last Friday, I got an invite to spend some time with some old high school friends. Some I hadn't seen in 25 years. As we get older, the friend group gets smaller. We got together to remember friends we lost to traffic violence, and to catch up with the ones still here.
