In honor of @robcrank68.bsky.social's #BirdOfTheDay Theme of #Nesting, here's a happy couple of barn swallows taking care of home at the Riefel Migratory Bird Sanctuary near Delta, B.C. #birding #birds #Canadianbirding

Beautiful photo! Evokes a childhood memory of a sign at a local strip mall that said, "THE GOLDFINCHES ARE HUNGRY. THISTLE." Around age 11 & 8, my brother and I had no clue there was a bird food store there. We decided it was a spy code, like one you might use at a secret door!

What I think is a Flame Skimmer taken in Palm Springs last month. Little show-off! #insectThursday

Gorgeous! I always fixate on the head, but look at those blues/greens of the wing feathers. So handsome - great photo!

@robcrank68.bsky.social For today's #BirdOfTheDay theme of #Anatidae, I went with a few of my favorite fancy Wood Duck from the Lower Mainland, BC. #Ducks #birds

Today’s #BirdOfTheDay theme is #BirdOnAWire - Loved this Costa's Hummingbird that hung out above me on a string of outdoor lights over a pool in Palm Springs recently. He felt like my little buddy, just chilling out there. #birds #birdphotography.

I think we're still on the #birdoftheday theme of #staringrightatyou. Stared down this emu, though the food on his face diminished the menacing effect. #birds #birdphotography

We've been waiting patiently to encounter the burst of ducklings and goslings at our local parks in the White Rock and Delta areas of BC. We hit the jackpot this weekend! Little fluffballs and proud parents. #birds #birdphotography

One gosling peeps up to keep watch over the group of what turned out to be 19 wee ones at our local park

C'mon, what a proud smile this mama has. And she should be - her ducklings are adorable

I think a loose body can also be a piece of tissue (not just bone) that breaks off and floats around the joint fluid. I had a loose body that was a chunk of overgrown joint lining. They also called it a "knee mouse", which was hilarious and so deeply weird to me.

My first Costa's Hummingbird sighting was this weekend on vacation to Palm Springs. This little guy spent time perched over my head on a string of outdoor bulbs. Was reading poolside and his purple gorget kept catching the light! #smallbirdsaturday #birds #birdphotography#birdoftheday #efgh

Today’s #BirdOfTheDay theme is #EFGH, birds who have any of these letters at the beginning of any part of their name. The alt is #UrbanLegends, birds captured in urban environments. I went with a Vermillion Flycatcher (F!) framing himself on fencing at a city park. #birds #birdphotography

The #BirdOfTheDay theme is #photogenic. This gorgeous Vermillion Flycatcher was a new #lifer for me this past weekend on my trip to Palm Springs. #birds #birdphotography

Alan's #BirdOfTheDay theme is #PassportPhoto a photograph of a bird that could be it’s passport picture. Such a great theme. Here's a gull that landed on our balcony and posed for his Canadian passport photo. #birds #birdphotography

So cool! I just learned about these a few days ago when researching some fun facts about regular ol' Rock Pigeons. Apparently, the Nicobar is the closest living relative to the extinct Dodo!! Great shot!

An alert Killdeer at Tsawwassen First Nations beach trail in BC. He seemed on protection duty for the nests behind him in the beach pebbles. The nesting Killdeer was roped off in the gravel parking lot of our local migratory bird sanctuary. #birds #birdphotography

Today's #BirdOfTheDay is #BestOfTheMonth, your best bird capture/s of March. I couldn't quite decide between these two, as they both evoke a specific mood/memory for me. A Black-Capped Chickadee amid cherry blossoms and a Red-Winged Blackbird squawkin' from a cattail on a chilly morning! #birds

Today's #BirdOfTheDay theme is #RuffledFeathers, birds with feathers out of place set by @robcrank68.bsky.social - I'm not sure these are "out of place", necessary, but these were the puffiest/ruffle-iest (?) I've seen (and it wasn't even really that cold out on the pier). #birds #birdphotography

Today Alan @alan678.bsky.social set the #BirdOfTheDay theme as #WingsOverWater. It was a lovely day for gulls (I believe this is a Ring Billed Gull) out over the waters of Boundary Bay off the White Rock, BC pier earlier this week. #birds #birdphotography

For Rob's #BirdOfTheDay, I chose both my #FavouriteOfTheMonth from our walk last Saturday in Surrey, BC (my favorite bird is the Black-Capped Chickadee), and from the same walk, a Steller's Jay for the Alt theme of #Blue. #birds

Steller's Jays are just durn pretty. This one flew over to say hey on our walk at Elgin Heritage Trail in Surrey, BC this past Saturday. #birds #birdphotography #bcphotography

Hard Eight! For decades, I have rented this movie, get 5 minutes in and realize I've seen it before. After a few years I'd rent it again, realize I've seen it before, etc. This happened 6 times. I still can't remember a thing about it, other than I think I liked it every time.

Just a few from our weekend trip to Harrison Mills, BC. Apparently this spot becomes the world's largest congregation of Bald Eagles from November to February for the salmon. Stunned by the numbers we viewed! #birds #birdphotograohy
