Nick Schmidt @cyclejargon.bsky.social · 02/10/2026Welcome Donnelly Field @ridebluebikes.bsky.social station, the 99th in @cambridgemass.bsky.social! Station 100 launches today! Where will it go? 092

Nick Schmidt @cyclejargon.bsky.social · 26/09/2026I was so lucky to be on the Harvard Bridge yesterday evening during one of the best sunsets of my life. Just about everyone on the sidewalk and bike lane paused and stared for some time 0123
Nick Schmidt @cyclejargon.bsky.social · 24/09/2026Thanks for the info! In these cases can businesses reopen if they pay the taxes or is this is for JP House? 100
Nick Schmidt @cyclejargon.bsky.social · 23/09/2026Woah, JP House of Pizza seized for non-payment of taxes?! @universalhub.com what’s the story here? 110

Nick Schmidt @cyclejargon.bsky.social · 31/08/2026One time I saw @kohler.bsky.social at Canobie Lake Park. Today I am going to Canobie Lake Park. Today I wonder if I will see Chris Kohler again. 010
Nick Schmidt @cyclejargon.bsky.social · 25/08/2026Western/River/Prospect looking crisp and beautiful as @cambridgemass.bsky.social starts putting finishing touches around #CarlBarronPlaza 181
Nick Schmidt @cyclejargon.bsky.social · 20/08/2026I get that details can change with any project over time, but this is beyond a detail and coming one month after my colleague was killed while biking makes this difficult to understand and accept. 0111
Nick Schmidt @cyclejargon.bsky.social · 20/08/2026Day Square is drowning in parking. Staff performed a huge multi day analysis of parking quantity, occupancy, and duration. On average, parking was occupied 70% of the day. At peak parked time during the analysis, 185 spaces were empty. Why add more parking? 1132
Nick Schmidt @cyclejargon.bsky.social · 20/08/2026Check PLAN: East Boston. Day Square is a neighborhood crash cluster. Consistently, folks participating in the planning study in good faith for years pleaded for changes to make the area safer. We did a good job of doing that and were able to bake plan elements into this development review. 1112
Nick Schmidt @cyclejargon.bsky.social · 20/08/2026This streetscape improvement received $2.6 million in MassWorks grants. Will the money be given back to the state? Will the Executive Office of Economic Development approve the dramatic scope change? Have they been asked? 0131
Nick Schmidt @cyclejargon.bsky.social · 20/08/2026Essentially, this long-negotiated and well designed improvement was approved by the BPDA Board and cemented into zoning by the Zoning Commission. Will there be a Notice of Project change? Will there be a public process? 1121
Nick Schmidt @cyclejargon.bsky.social · 20/08/2026The streetscape improvements cut from the already-approved plan are defined public benefits in the project’s PDA. This is essentially a very flexible zoning overlay that enables the project by allowing variances from baseline zoning through the provision of defined public benefits. 1142
Nick Schmidt @cyclejargon.bsky.social · 20/08/2026I am speaking as a Boston resident, a transportation professional, and former Planning Department staff who served as PLAN: East Boston transportation project manager and transportation reviewer for 355 Bennington: this decision is borderline cruel, completely tone deaf, and legally problematic. 49124
Nick Schmidt @cyclejargon.bsky.social · 20/08/2026Crashes on both sides of the BU Bridge during yesterday’s PM commute. Here, on Comm Ave, things looked intense. Ambulance and stretcher on the Cambridge side. Hope everyone is fine. 020

Nick Schmidt @cyclejargon.bsky.social · 31/07/2026Big day for the Schmidts: we passed the 10k-mile mark on our e-bike! 🥳 Shuttling my son to school and back, and many errands and fun trips between, it’s no understatement to say our lifestyle over the past five years is only possible with an e-bike. Fun to watch the odometer reset! 070

Nick Schmidt @cyclejargon.bsky.social · 26/07/2026In middle school, I went to a friend’s house. His mom repurposed the entire dining room into a beanie baby warehouse of large bins stacked on the table and around the room. Presumably, she was starting an eBay store. This would have been 1995-1996. 130

Nick Schmidt @cyclejargon.bsky.social · 21/07/2026What a frustrating article, which makes Culbert St sound pastoral. The development fronts Blue Hill Avenue, with a side on Culbert. Culbert is a literal stone’s throw from the BHA Fairmount line entrance, and high frequency 28 and 31 buses. Within a minute walk, one is at shops and services. 121

Nick Schmidt @cyclejargon.bsky.social · 09/07/2026Louisa’s death is a tremendous and senseless loss for the region. I’ve known her for years. I worked with her near daily up until her death. She was kind, empathetic, charismatic, and sharp. I am somehow both numb and incredibly angry. Boston, we have lost one of our absolute best and brightest. 15414
