Managed to get #Resonite working with a native macOS Metal renderer and visionOS streaming client. No Unity or SteamVR in the loop at all, hooray for renderer decoupling! Still far from feature-complete, but it’s coming along nicely!

This is amazing and I would recomend my VRC creator friends to show this up! One big thing though is remember to vote with your wallet! Cancel your VRC+. Yeah it sucks but you can't say your mad while funding them! That tells them that doing this tells them its okay!

Also one more thing before you ask - no, I don't use AI to write code Resonite. I take pride in designing the architecture of the systems on my own and the code is written by hand (save for some boiler-plate autocomplete or meta-programming generated code). I like build things for long term.

I feel it should be more okay to take the stance of "I'm going to wait until I have more information" before jumping to a conclusion. I often see people make a conclusion on something right away, on very limited information. It's okay to not make up your mind on something right away.

No hate on anyone making a living from VRC, but this is *obnoxious.* 😓 This instantly ruins any world that could have been a third place.

An extremely intrusive ad injected next to the normal VRC menu, and a world menu that contains ads for way too many microtransactions on every single tab.

Btw anyone wondering how Meta keeps their headset costs so low should watch this section. *THIS* is why they can subsidize and *THIS* is why I always recomend to not engage with their services on device. (Disabling ad-profiles, AI, and linking to PC whenever possible to play over SteamVR)

Like yeah it's not as cheap as a Q3 but meta is subsidizing that headset heavily. Plus a Quest 3 can't play Silk Song or HL2. Not to mention Valve's "It's your device" policy. Also no power brick does suck but Apple's been doin' that for years on phones that are way more expensive.

Okay gonna do a potential hot take here. The Steam Frame price is actually pretty good, amazing even. I mean the Valve Index was a 1,000 and this is a Valve Index plus a PC, an Eye Tracking Module, and a WiFi 6e Dongle providing a link experience on par with meta's link cable.

A great pairing to it would be a "Quick Social" Facet that finds and joins active versions of the hub. That way users who may be uncomfortable with the World Browser could hop right into socializing. If there's not a valid world to join it could request that a volunteer headless starts one up.

It would act as a great way to "Party Up" and then explore the platform with friends and new users that go there would be more likley to return compared to seeing a bunch of Grids in the world browser. Plus it would do wonders for sharing cool games and experiences that users might not know about

Gonna agree with the replies. Some kind of connected always on hub that people can join would be great! Not even just for new users but users wanting to socialize in general. I can already think of some cool ideas for it like portals to popular game worlds or little burbs about popular groups!

I did it! I made bones stiff! :D I finally made progress on StrikePose - a new inhouse IK for Resonite. The solver now supports per-bone stiffness, which produces much smoother results for the solve. Coming soon :3 #Resonite #socialVR #gamedev #indiegame
