Answer is a bit depressing TBH. When my family moved across the country and I headed into 7th (?) grade with a completely new peer group. The loudest one compared me to Stuart Minkus, and while I'd never seen Boy Meets World, the meaning was pretty unmistakable. I stayed weird. Will not change.

But I think that the games I continue to find the most value in are the ones that tell me "check this out" and then show me something very particular that the creators are going for. They're not trying to satisfy a niche, they're trying to be a thing.

I'm starting to understand why I've developed a gut dislike of "I'm looking for a game to play X", and it's because it feels like there's a level of Product involved. "I'm looking for a game to deliver a specific experience (and will evaluate it based on how it delivers that specific experience)."

I'm not familiar with the specifics here, I only saw one post about it just today, but I do know that vibe coding is causing a lot of inexperienced people to attempt things well beyond their ability. (Decompiling is basically turning game data back into the code that got compiled into the program.)

Yeah I think that's a great framing. Can't please everyone, and there's a huge audience out there who are willing to take big dives into media. If people are willing to dive into an AP with seasons of 4+ hour episodes, four seasons of cleanly edited story is easy next to that!
