New Review Article alert! 'Using well-being literacy to align capability-based learning with well-being curriculums in Australian secondary schools' written by Rachael McNamara, Ellen Heyting and Liz Jones is now available to read. Read in full here: doi.org/10.1002/curj...
This reflective piece draws a link between recent work in Well-being Science and capability-based learning to increase the transferability of well-being curriculums. We propose that a capability-based approach to well-being curriculum may assist students to activate the skills they need when necessary and may update well-being curriculums for more impactful learning and engagement.

⏰Early view article alert! 'Turkish science curriculum reloaded: Epistemic practice demands in the newly released curricular documents' written by Yılmaz Soysal is available. Read here: doi.org/10.1002/curj...
Abstract: This study investigated the integration of epistemic practices in the 2024 Turkish science curriculums for grades 3–8, addressing the global shift towards a science-as-practice (epistemic turn) approach that positions students as epistemic agents engaged in practices like data analysis, argumentation and reasoning. Using a novel, epistemically oriented taxonomy, the study analysed 745 learning outcomes to assess the distribution and alignment of epistemic practice demands with students' cognitive and epistemic development. Findings revealed that while the curriculums incorporate 40 distinct epistemic practices (e.g. data gathering, model construction, inductive reasoning, classifying, control-of-variables, evidence-based reasoning, identifying logical fallacies, experimenting, interrogating), their distribution was inconsistent and misaligned with students' developmental stages. Lower-order practices (e.g. perception and conception) dominated, while higher-order practices (e.g. causation, argumentation and abstraction) were underrepresented, potentially hindering students' progression towards advanced epistemic cognition. The study underscored the need for a balanced, developmentally sensitive curriculum design that progressively challenges students' epistemic capacities. The coding catalogue developed in this study may serve as a methodological tool for researchers and curriculum developers, enabling cross-country comparisons and informing curricular revisions. Future research should explore the implementation of these practices in authentic classroom settings and examine the gap between curricular intentions and instructional realities.

New article alert! 'Evaluation of interprofessional collaboration in a teaching session in patient partnership in pharmacy education' written by Marc-Antoine Luc, Guillaume Hache & Caroline HACHE is available. Click here to read: doi.org/10.1002/curj...
Screenshot of Abstract: Patient partnership in health education promotes collaborative and humanistic care. In pharmacy education, however, this approach remains uncommon. We aimed to co-construct and assess a teaching session on pain management and dispensing refusal, involving patients as full partners. A participatory approach was used. A first focus group (patients, educators, pharmacist, educational researcher, student) defined the curriculum's goals and key skills. A second focus group co-developed a video of a dispensing refusal scenario. The final session, integrated into the third-year pharmacy curriculum, used this video and Wooclap® for interaction. Student self-efficacy and attitudes were assessed via pre/post-questionnaires and focus group feedback. Interprofessional collaboration was analysed using D'Amour's framework. Students reported better knowledge of pain types and analgesic mechanisms, but also stronger soft skills: listening, non-judgement, and patient support. They increasingly recognized the importance of explaining treatment and adapting strategies. The co-construction process strengthened collaboration between team members. Patients contributed experiential knowledge to the teaching design and objectives, while professionals ensured alignment with academic standards. Interprofessional collaboration was classified as active. This pilot supports the feasibility and impact of involving patient partners in designing pharmacy education. The session improved both technical and relational competencies. Patient involvement helped shift from a provider-centred to a partnership model. Future work should explore including patients as assessors in student evaluations, enabling them to co-evaluate both knowledge and interpersonal skills in authentic scenarios.

⏰New article alert! 'Procedural justice and writing-process transparency in GenAI-affected writing curriculum: A classroom-based study of course review governance' written by Bei Zhang, Wanqing Xia, Xiaozheng Guo & Wei Wei is now available to read. Read here: doi.org/10.1002/curj...
Article abstract: Generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) challenges writing curricula because final texts alone no longer show how student work was produced, revised and justified. This exploratory classroom-based study examined whether course-level procedures for handling GenAI-related writing concerns were associated with students' writing-process transparency. In an elective academic writing course at a university in China, four intact classes were allocated within instructor strata to procedural governance, emphasising explanation, student response and correctability or techno-deterrence governance, centred on detector-threshold warning and routine follow-up. Students submitted a minimum evidence package comprising outlines, drafts, revision traces and literature-search records. Procedural governance was associated with higher end-of-term writing-process transparency than techno-deterrence governance (Hedges' g = 0.48), with the clearest difference in revision traces (g = 0.50). It was also associated with higher perceived procedural justice (g = 0.59) and lower false-accusation anxiety (g = −0.41). The findings suggest that process transparency is governance-sensitive: it depends not only on what evidence students are asked to submit, but also on how that evidence is reviewed.
