The film is written, directed, and co-stars Hitoshi Ozawa, a legendary Yakuza actor who is a villain in Yakuza 0, who got his fellow legends involved. This was his passion project inspired by one of his best friends, a trans woman, and he worked with the community for representative casting.

Too often the people talking about fairness and safety are people who just hate trans people, or want to deny trans women exist, and are just using this talking point as a way to get people who wouldn't care about someone who's trans competing otherwise. Wish more politicians brought this up.

I'm all for "Fairness" and "Safety" being discussed when it comes to Trans Athletes, the problem is the discussion usually is only about what's fair and safe for the Cis Athletes. Trans Athletes need a place to compete too that's both fair and safe for them as well, and they get left out.

I'm not going to get angry for anyone who considers the dangers of either. Try to remember they do care about doing the right thing even if you don't agree. And that sacrificing the rights and values we cherish may bring victory in the short run(debatable), but they will destroy us in the end.

The people who are saying vote blue no matter what know the cost of defeat, the very real danger it poses. The cost of winning is something less frequently considered. Because when you win, the consequences for HOW you won are usually less immediately obvious.

It's also frustrating because polls have consistently shown that independent voters are not becoming more anti-Trans, only republicans. I firmly believe that there is an argument to be made that this is a distraction from the issues they do care about, like cost of living.

There are a lot of groups/people in the democratic party who are more willing to compromise on certain things, in what they believe is a more middle of the road policies. These are the people who concluded that Kamala was too progressive, which is flat out not why she lost.

I obviously don't consider myself a single issue voter, and I am grateful I live in a place where I don't need to make that decision, but I do get it. I don't know if these anti-trans policies will become more mainstream if they win, but I do know that the groups she talks about will 100% use it.

Would I vote for a Dem candidate who was bad on Trans rights? Probably, but I would do everything I could to find a better alternative first (in many places there isn't). I also don't expect everyone to agree with me on this, and I think there are some bad takes on those people who disagree.

I'm hopeful that enough people will push back enough to minimize the damage, both in red and blue states. Right now there are an unfortunate number of Dems who are coming out with anti-Trans policies. Politics suck, and you are frequently stuck between two bad options.

Civil Right Progress isn't a straight line, frequently it's about taking two steps forward, one step back. LGBTQ+ rights took a MASSIVE leap forward since the 90's, in large part because of a lot of hard work, but right now we're in the backlash. This has happened before in America.

There's a big difference between withholding your vote from certain Dems and advocating for not voting unless a candidate is perfect. And, let me also say: If you do decide to withhold a vote for a Dem, go out and vote. Leave that race blank, but vote otherwise.
