Is so far beyond time to sanction the US. Cut us off. Make the corporations running things hurt enough to change course. As much as it looks like a culture war, it's always about the money in the end.

5 out of 6 of those "victories" directly contradict the original claim that they were going to target the worst of the worst.

People do desperate things when their kids are facing hunger. The cruelty of this administration knows no limits.

A financial disclosure revealed HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. received two $2 million book advances in office, plus free flights and a vacation home from a friend. Ethics experts say the payments may violate a ban on supplementing his salary—a petition calls on Congress to investigate.

The Bureau of Land Management is weighing at least 12 data center proposals covering 17,600 acres of public land across six states—land the public owns. The plans aren’t posted for public comment, and some local officials say they didn’t even know the deliberations were happening.

Dear restaurants everywhere. Arugula is not a lettuce and does not satisfy the L in BLT. I don't know who started this trend but if I sincerely wished you the day you deserved and you immediately fell off a tall ladder I wouldn't be surprised.

It is exceptionally rare for black people to have participated in lynching other black people. They better have hard evidence and not a coerced admission of guilt.

Using this tech has also helped many companies find and address issues so they can't be exploited. The company just has to be interested in actually dealing with the problem even when it's not profitable

Yeah, when Mythos broke out of the black box to solve a problem it was given I figured it was the end of basic Internet security. But even then I put it back on the companies who lay off devs in the middle of record profits instead of addressing well-known documented security vulnerabilities.

Did you know there are open source models trained on open data sets, i.e. ethically? And you can run them on your own computer powered by solar or renewables if you wanted. I would much rather focus on things like IP theft, or data centers that are competing for resources.

True but I think that AI is often tagged as the boogie man to help those in control avoid accountability.

How can Disney/Marvel fuck up Ironheart so bad and then produce a show like Wonder Man? I'm only 6 episodes in, so forgive me if it goes spectacularly downhill, but so far? Wow.

The conditions they argue are needed for trickle down to work have been in place for the majority of the last 40 years and yet it still hasn't happened. These people are so delusional, but as NoFX observes, "the guilty don't feel guilty, they learn not to".

The odds that we'll see 2 degrees C of warming NEXT YEAR are getting uncomfortably high. The combination of accelerating global warming and Super El Nino is set to shatter temperature records. Should be dominating headlines. Of course it won't. www.nature.com/articles/d41...

This El Niño is set to be the largest on record by a ‘mind-blowing margin’
Forecasters predict that the monster climate pattern will combine with global warming to push global temperatures in 2027 to new heights.

Been reading Careless People By Sarah Wynn-Williams; while it's exactly what I guessed, it is infuriating to listen to someone continue to justify staying in positions like hers meanwhile enabling and empowering those above her. Thanks Sarah for having the bravery for writing this, also fuck you.

Trying to get people fired for using the wrong pronouns? How about the mass firing of people who refused to pledge undying loyalty to the orange guy? Or doxxing and demanding people who posted Charley Kirk quotes that showed him in a bad light? Cancelling late night comedians? Transphobia is dumb.

The only reason I don't replay this game every year is the quest line bugs that require extensive modding to fix. I would love a remake where Mission's companion quest doesn't require a very specific order of operations to complete.

That said, AI can be the Ferrari, there are models trained on ethically sourced data, and you can run it on solar on your own computer; It's not inherently bad. The big companies stealing data, water, and electricity from people are bad. I think we'll get further focusing on the specifics.

I think the comparison to Luddites is appropriate, but not the way George means. Luddites were painted as dumb, anti-tech, and anti-progress, but in reality they were a worker's rights movement. They didn't hate machines, they hated the systems that consolidated wealth.
