i'm quite happy with the custom modifier system i made for my strategy game 🎮 it makes it easy to programmatically fetch a list of everything that affects anything in the game, which is useful both to players learning the game and to me as I balance the various systems #gamedev #indiegame

"I have played this unfinished demo more than many games that I've paid actual money for. I don't know how exactly, but it somehow manages to exactly pull off the stone age 4x vibe that so many of us have been desperate for since even before the days of Civ4 BTS stone age mods. Forget about those, forget about the Humankind early game; none of those ever really made it feel right. Folk Emerging... does.

The game's not done yet. You can't play all of it in the demo. There's some numbers that need tweaking for foraging, and the character system could do with being fleshing out. Loads of things need to change in the long run. None of that bothers me, however, because the core of the game just feels so good and so right. I am delighted to have found this game, and am looking forward with giddy anticipation to seeing it reach completion."

The recent demo update overhauls Clans: each one now has Influence, e.g. based on their clan head's reputation, how many bands they lead, specialists, etc. Differences in Influence affect Clan relationships, which now have a bigger impact on your entire Tribe.
