You can see your correlated logs in the trace waterfall now and also they cluster instead of overlapping which is nice

not getting read for filth by the semver.org FAQ or anything. oh no.
A screenshot from the semver.org faq section reads as follows:

How do I know when to release 1.0.0?

If your software is being used in production, it should probably already be 1.0.0. If you have a stable API on which users have come to depend, you should be 1.0.0. If you’re worrying a lot about backward compatibility, you should probably already be 1.0.0.

On sum-cumulative-monotonic we wear rate. Told ya I don't theme-shame! Mostly. My light-side heat maps still look like bacon, but I am fixing that next.
A local OpenTelemetry viewer displaying a metric of type sum, where the aggregation temporality is cumulative, and the cumulative flag is set to true. The time series selected in this example has a pink line and overlay, landing the visual element to the "On Wednesday, we wear pink" joke from Mean Girls.

Not to brag or anything, but it has 2 (two) dark modes. And also a light mode if you are into that sorta thing. We don't theme shame. #OpenTelemetry #otel-desktop-viewer #soon!

Stepping away from Stargate: github.com/open-telemet...
Meme using the Lion King "shadowy place" template with three panels. In the first panel, Mufasa tells Simba that AggregationTemporality defines how a metric aggregator reports aggregated values, gesturing toward the sunlit lands labeled AGGREGATION_TEMPORALITY_DELTA and AGGREGATION_TEMPORALITY_CUMULATIVE. In the second panel, Simba asks "But what's that shadowy place over there?" pointing toward AGGREGATION_TEMPORALITY_UNSPECIFIED. In the third panel, Mufasa sternly replies "UNSPECIFIED is the default AggregationTemporality, Simba. It MUST not be used."

Property of Daedalus. Do Not Remove. This is funny because buckets! 😁

So this was a hit.
A small seven-year-old enjoying the hell out of her new drum set, which is not even plugged in yet. She has a huge smile on her face and is enthusiastically hitting stuff with sticks.

I need to re-read Dresden Codak, but that's where the phrasing is from. Also I am doing a batch at @recurse.com right now, and "I will do OpenTelemetry" to it is kind of a meme because I am having a lot of fun instrumenting increasingly weirder things for my personal amusement.
Comic character is holding a cookie. The speech bubble says "I will do science to it"

Okay, so I ran with this half-joke-half-experiment and swapped the original latexmk script with the one I instrumented, and here's my CV getting compiled, visualized in a tool I built! This is very silly, but also unbelievably cool!

I’m working on the weekend, and Bug is all curled up in his favourite hiking hat, keeping me company.

Yeah Claude I really rather you didn’t.

Saw a small bear this morning while biking back from kiddo’s camp drop off.
A view of a bike path going into a lush wooded area. Somewhat far away from the photographer, potentially so far that one would need to zoom in, is a juvenile black bear eating berries by the side of the path.

I don’t think I have ever been or will ever be as cozy as these two when they take over my kid’s bed for the day.

Made some progress on logs in otel-desktop-viewer. Just super roughly prototyping the front end for now, but the back-end is doing its thing and ready for review! I’m going to treat myself to a pastry, then move on to metrics.

The kittens are fully enjoying their time with the large crinkle snake.
Two grey cats are playing with a long piece of brown packaging paper. Bug is laying on one end in loaf pose, while Patch is trying to the other end into submission.

Patch got accidentally shut in a closet yesterday, and I’m not sure he actually even noticed? The thing about Patch is that while his handful of brain cells are acquainted in passing, they don’t really interact outside of the daily stand-up, ya know?

Kitten update!

Patch is resting on a pink bed, wearing a little crown made of yellow construction paper. He looks like a grumpy old man cat, but that’s just his face. He is actually very tolerant and sweet.

So… this is Bug’s brother Patch. He lives here now. The smooth children haven’t yet realized we have two cats. I’m not telling them because it’s funnier this way.
A slightly different grey and white kitten (this one is a bit chubbier, has white cheeks, and longer socks) than usual stretched out on my green blanket.A slightly different grey and white kitten than usual curled up happily on my bed.

Does this look like the face of someone who pooped on the bread this morning? He would never! (He did.)

Bug (the kitten) will not let me fix the bug (derogatory) in my exporter config. He swipes at the keyboard if I stop petting. No debugging allowed, I guess.
Bug, our grey and white kitten lays contentedly by a keyboard, his eyes closed. In the corner of the photo is a computer monitor showing an error in an OpenTelemetry exporter config file. The kitten’s peaceful demeanour is deceptive, and I am not currently allowed to fix the error.

The smooth children have fully claimed their new furry sibling, and vice versa.
Text message from my partner while I was out getting more cat things:

“View of doorway. Ball bounces by. Cat flies by. Followed by small child. Followed by larger child.

Same thing repeats in the opposite direction 5 seconds later.”

Yes! Behold my new fluffy child! He is just so good and soft and I LOVE HIM! ❤️

We have acquired one (1) kitten. His name is Bug. He is 4 months old, and I don’t think he has stopped purring unless it was to sleep.

Boston Dynamics is leaking.
An ottoman (I think) in white and millennial greige. It looks like two ass-ends of a dog, with both sets of paws on backwards, like something that would be produced by Boston Dynamics if they had diversified into sad expensive greige furniture.

My bigger kid pointed out that the smaller kid’s pet unicorn has a second face and now we are both giggling because we can’t unsee it.
A pink unicorn stuffy in profile. You can see one closed eye on the side of the head, and a nostril and a smiling mouth at the front. The same unicorn facing forward. The nostrils over the mouth can be viewed as a second pair of eyes, making up a very silly smiley face.

But consider, if you go with “Christofascist Oligarchy” it can be sung to the tune of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
Like the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles logo, but it’s Christofascist Oligarchy.

There’s a time and a place for AI art, and that time is when I need a deeply unserious capybara doing non-capybara things and that place is in my pull requests, as a little treat.
Ostensibly we have a duck and a capybara standing together in a heroic pose, symbolizing the unity of workers on a poster advocating for union rights.

However, this was made by AI, so the capybara’s arms terminate in weird blobs, the duck does not have a single thought behind those eyes, and the inspirational text is gibberish that says “UNTER RUOHTS! Ret the union rights.”

My grocery store got a new Eastern European section and I’M GOING TO EAT IT!
A section of two grocery store shelves featuring large bags of pryaniki and sushki. The first is a dense spice cookie of sorts, and the second is the ungodly textural love child of a bagel, a pretzel, and a crouton. Both are completely inedible without tea, but amazing with it. Here’s me trying to carry two bags of sushki under one arm. I’m going to eat them and they will be delicious.

The kids have reached the end of their dinosaur era (for now) and I was photographing these girls to put up for free on marketplace (dinosaur era gets hella expensive) but it looks like they are shooting an album cover. 🤷 Ship it.
A carnotaurus and three t-rex toys were positioned on a coffee table in the most expedient way to keep them vertical. The result looks like an album cover of a parody of a boy band. The carnotaurus is marketed as the group clown. The t-rex on the right raps in every song, so poorly it physically hurts.

When the kids beg you to put festive reindeer antlers and a nose on your vehicle, you put festive reindeer antlers and a nose on your vehicle.
A yellow long-tail cargo bike is standing in a parking lot. It is adorned with reindeer antlers on the handlebars and a big red nose on the handlebar stem.

In the background, there is a majestic view of snow-capped mountains, partially obscured by wisps of clouds.

The bigger child did a communism to m… our DarnTough socks this morning, and to be fair I feel like I deserved that.
My 8-year old seen walking ahead of me down a leaf-strewn gravel path. He is wearing a purple backpack, a green jacket, black fleece shorts over blue thermal tights, and what was previously my, but is now our, pair of geometrically pattered merino hiking socks pulled over the tights, half-way to his knees. Somehow, he manages to make the ensemble look really cool.
