13. Mewgenics [dropped] I just realised that I forgot to log when I dropped Mewgenics. What can I say.. my expectations were way too high. I played for around 17 hours and got so bored at how repetitive it felt. Which added to the frustration of runs being ruined by bad RNG between encounters.

12. Crow Country [for fun] The fact that Crow Country, a survival horror game, still works so well on explorer mode with all of the survival removed, is a testament to every other area of its design. Aesthetics - on point, atmosphere - fantastic, story - surprisingly great. Play this game!

11. Shadow of the Colossus [photography playthrough] This is a special game. My first attempt left me too unsettled to want to continue. But the visual and audio beauty enraptured me so thoroughly that I decided I had to spotlight every Colossus in photo mode. 6 years later and it’s finally done.

📞 Hostage Negotiator First solo boardgame experience! This game relied so heavily on dice that I think it would have felt so terrible to play if I didn’t have some extremely lucky rolls. The problem is, no one got to see the incredible clutch win that I got. Not sure solo boardgames are for me.

Critical Role Campaign 2: The Mighty Nein That was a lot of listening. I started at the start of the year and just finished mid September. And in that time the cast went through years. Constantly amazed at Matt Mercer’s creativity, memory and ability to just go with it. Very inspiring.

🦑 Arkham Horror: The Card Game Having never played a game like this before, I underestimated the complexity. I think it will be easier once you know how everything works, but there is a bit of a learning curve on the first session. Playing right before DnD was ill advised, but I would play again.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day [cinema] I had low expectations just based on my own disillusioned feelings regarding the MCU. And even then I was dissapointed. There were some cool ideas but I am just finding myself bored of movies in service of setting up other movies.

My girl Bonny died today 😢 She was sassy, knew what she wanted, and she wasn’t the brightest but she was such a spark. She’s been with me through buying my own house, then moving away from our hometown, and made sure I was ok. We were a we, and now it’s just me, and I’m absolutely heartbroken 💔

And a new fire place in our home ship. Yet again can’t take any credit. I spent the evening switching our chests for barrels, making a loincloth and walking the perimeter of the continent. The wildlife corridor bridge for the pigs was my idea though, I’ll take that 😂

The Odyssey [cinema] Horrific, grim, all my favourite things. Did not expect to enjoy this much. Not knowing the original story was a bonus in the thrilling journey of wondering what was going to happen next, and knowing there would be reading to do after. Loved the theme, felt very resonant.

The Prestige [prime] How did I get through so much of my life without seeing this movie 😦 The pacing, the back and forth, the tragedy of it all, trusting the audience to pick up on it without lingering. I have so much more praise, you should watch the movie if you haven’t! Rivalry at its best.

8. Chants of Sennaar [recorded] As brilliant as I had hoped. Thoroughly enjoyed every level, on many levels. The puzzle design and the world design both say so much with so little, the simplicity is effortless for something that must have been so complex to create. A beautiful experience.

The Courage to be Disliked [audiobook] I really really didn’t like this book. I didn’t fully take the concepts on board because the way it was written so thoroughly took me out of it. I spent 6 hours being irritated by a conversation that imo couldn’t have sounded less like a real conversation 🙈

☕️ Obsession This was a great time. A lot of moving parts to keep an eye on but the flare is fun. While we, the Yorks, failed miserably, we standby that we are rich in ways that can’t be measured by wealth, reputation or all your other typical materialistic ways.

Why can’t I just enjoy things? A comedians guide to Autism [audiobook] So incredibly relatable. Worth the read if you are newly diagnosed, wondering if you should be diagnosed, or just know someone who is. Given me a new way of looking at things with more understanding and acceptance of myself.
