Not sure this is the right way to sell vinyl, by the inch... Make sure you leave instructions, house clearance companies have no clue...
Vinyl Records stacked up with a tape measure to see the stack is 5 inches high.

I've been reading Dave Haslam's "Young Hearts Run Free - The Real Story of The 1970s" - there is some I just don't remember, a lot from outside my sphere, plus a few mistakes but it is otherwise a great catchall for the culture of the 70's in the UK
An screenshot of an interesting paragraph on page 178, it says "In the summer of 1975 there were around 30,000 squatters
in London, living rent- and mortgage-free, often in a bid
to escape the wage slave world. It was a lifestyle that made
London affordable and had a network of support groups.
Some of this was the remnants of counter cultural activity,
and reflected a view of London portrayed so vividly by
Jonathan Raban in his 1974 book Soft City, in which he sees
London as ‘scary and impersonal’, peopled by strangers,
rogues and angels, all pursuing a means

to survive. ‘The city’,
he writes, ‘is soft, amenable to a dazzling and libidinous
variety of lives, dreams, and interpretations.’

anoher forgotten or overlooked album produced by #CreedTaylor - Johnny Hodges, 1967 -Blue Notes, Verve. Many of the 12 albums Hodges recorded for Verve included the word Blue in the album title - this as with all the others isn't an odd title at all, it features elements of the blues in the tracks.

On July 31st, 1988, the last Playboy Club in Lansing, Michigan, closed its doors, ending nearly three decades of the iconic nightspot and marking the start of the decline of the Hefner “lifestyle” and the Playboy brand. Playboy had long been tied to jazz, with many jazz musicians and artists, including Creed Taylor, playing a role in its history. In this post, I'll look at some key branches of the brand and the involvement of jazz with the brand.

Winding down with this tonight, amuch overlooked #grantgreen album produced by #creedtaylor for Verve Records. It's a very laid back performance by Green, "Willow Weep For Me" and "Cantaloupe Woman" are great tracks, Larry Young (Organ) and Harold Vick (T. Sax) bot get to shine.

Not withstanding the content warnings... They say that Wikipedia has errors because it is user generated/edited. While tidying up my tabs and desktop after writing the attached, I had to write to encyclopedia.com to correct their entry on Don Sebesky. The only difference is they don't credit users
I am the main writer for a website ctproduced.com that does in-depth
research and articles on the music, musicians and productions of Creed Taylor.

I have just finished the results from a long project about Don Sebesky's
album "The Rape Of El Morro".

ln your entry for Sebesky, I think taken from Brenna Sanchez biography - you note that "Sebesky was also nominated for Grammy Awards for
Rape of El Morro in 1975".

This is inaccurate. While Sebesky was nominated for 6 Grammys for his work with Creed Taylor, this was not among them. The Grammys
website also does not list this nomination.

It's time to wrap this up, I've been working on this for almost 4-years. Two of the key people have since passed. It was one of, if not the first CTI albums I acquired in 1975 in a suburb north of London. If you have any guesses about why it's called "the Rape Of El Morro" let me know...

Also "Cal Tjader The Life and Recordings of the Man Who Revolutionized Latin Jazz" by Duncan Reid is a fantastic read - among other things it contains this heartbreaking paragraph which makes me cry every time I read it, not just for Cal but for all the servicemen.
“Pat Tjader told me the fi rst thing Cal wanted to do in Manila was go to the beach where there is a statue of General MacArthur from the war,” recounted Sanchez. “Cal sat on a bench in the park and cried like a baby for an hour.... He remembered everything. Isn’t that horrible? He made a complete circle. He had gone to that beach as an [18]-year-
old boy and went back the king of Latin jazz.” Once settled back in his room, Tjader laid down on the bed and tried in vain to get some overdue rest.

The 1970's - Donald Trump attended the opening night at Studio 54 but he wasn't important enough to include in the list of celebs'. The next few nights the club was quiet then on May 2nd it was Bianca Jaggers birthday and the club hence forth became a synonym for Sodom and Gomorrah.

The book cover for reading jazz edited by Robert Gottlieb. The picture shows a black man playing a saxophone with a smoke wafting upwards and a blue filter. The word Jazz is shown in bright red. The text "A GATHERING OF

I'm working on a piece about Jazz and the Playboy Empire, jazz was as integral to Playboy's success as were boobs. I'm looking for a readable copy of the cover to a Omega Records album I don't have, I tried Googling it and this is what Google Gemini AI said, total nonsense...
The album "Percussion for Playboys" is a 1959 Omega Records LP featuring relaxing instrumentals, exotica, and jazz standards, including a percussive cover of the "Mickey Mouse Club Theme" and race car sounds. A 2015 version by "Not Available" is also listed on streaming services with a similar tracklist.

Where to Listen
Although a 2015 album titled "Percussion for Playboys" by "Not Available" is listed on Spotify with 14 songs (totaling 43 minutes and 5 seconds), it is currently unavailable for streaming. However, a YouTube channel dedicated to "Percussion for Playboys" offers individual tracks from the album, such as "Sports Car Races," "Mickey Mouse Theme," and "Take the 'A' Train." Additionally, a Facebook post from April 2026 includes a link to listen to the full 1959 album on YouTube.
Album Details and Tracklists
The original "Percussion For Playboys" is a 1959 jazz compilation LP released by Omega Disk (OSD-2) in the US and Mecca (3) (OSD 2) in the UK. The UK version is noted as being a compilation of similar styles to the US release, which was also known as "Bedside Companion For Playboys".

"Mickey Mouse Theme"
"Sports Car Races"
"Take the 'A' Train"

Articles that don't say what you think they are going to say
Britains New Musical Express magazine from 1/12/1985 - Picture of American singer Millie Jackson - Below the picture is the heading "Britain To Get Phucked" - the article talks about Americans protesting at Mis Jacksons USA gigs following appearances in apartheid South Africa. It ends with the paragraph.

"Channel 4 TV will be
screening The Complete Millie
Jackson late night on 19
January. This is a film of the
singer’s concert at the London
Dominion, which took place
last February, and includes the
infamous 'Phuck U Symphony’ "
