It is important to understand that the bill making these cuts also gives significant tax breaks to the already wealthy. Data Haven points out that people in the top 2% of income in Connecticut will pay $3.4 billion less in taxes each year moving forward as a result of HR1.

This morning in Danbury, ICE was arresting parents at school bus stops. But it’s more sinister. ICE waited until the kids were on the bus so when they are dropped off at the end of the day, they are alone, scared to death they can’t find their parents. I’m heading to Danbury.

Today is this last day of legislative session and the clock is running out. In 2024, Connecticut voters passed the Constitutional amendment to implement "no-excuse" absentee voting. This session, H.B. 5001 is the implementation bill for this voting reform.
